Summary of this Book...
This is a sweet little story about a boy and girl who meet virtually when an accidental address typo on an email sends the boy's message to the girl instead of his teacher–on Valentine's night. For the next ten years, the two message each other only on Valentines day. They begin to look forward to their exchanges, but they have rules they make up as they go along, such as not mentioning names or places–to keep the fun in the game of not knowing who the other is. After high school, the boy, "C," goes on to college and then grad school. The girl, "T," is a few years younger, and is at college when they both decide they'd like to meet in person. This whole first section of the story is told solely through the chain of email messages between the two characters, C and T. After I read the first few email messages, I didn't notice that they were the only thing holding the story together. They were funny and sweet, and the reader gets to hear two very distinct voices as they grow up. They remain the same in their humor and cheer, but they mature and grow to be friends in a real and touching way. The story transitions from the thread of email messages to a narrative about a girl in grad school named Terra, a former college athlete, and a grad school TA named Collum. A delightful romp ensues and comes to a close with a thoroughly satisfying ending. I gave the product rating an 18+ because I think there might be a little bit of swearing, but not much.
This type of Book is good for...
Anyone wanting a quick read and in the mood for a cute, happy love story. If you're having a rough time or just stressed out, it's a sweet pick-me-up. I smiled as I read the whole thing.
Further Comments... | ||
There aren't any surprises or twists in this story. It's a straight-forward, cute love story. If you're looking for a story with a lot of depth, tension, or conflict, this probably isn't for you. It's a short read, and it's perfect if you just need a break from the world without being silly. There's also mention of sex, but there aren't any graphic situations. That would require a longer story.
