I was pretty excited to read this Amazon First Reads selection because it promised an exploration into the world of BDSM and kink, but quickly became apparent that there was very little engaging story or compelling characters to back it up. More than anything, it felt like it was just jumping on the "50 Shades of Grey" bandwagon and trying to pique interest in the BDSM/kink space, without offering anything compelling to read, other than a dominatrix protagonist that walks around going, "You don't really understand what I do or the world I operate in." Which anyone who's read anything in this genre before absolutely does.
