Summary of this Book...
This is a fun and educational children's book about a mischievous Aye-Aye (a kind of lemur who lives in Madagascar and is endangered). The book's procedes go to saving the animals From Amazon: " Aye-Aye doesn't mean to be naughty. He can't help himself. Or can he? Aye-Aye is an endangered lemur who loves pulling pranks on the villagers of Madagascar. He loves it when they squeal, but mostly he loves it when they huck their yummy meals at him. Until one day, they decide enough is enough and ban him from the village! Poor Aye-Aye is lonely and hungry and desperate to find a way to win back their hearts and clear his name. But how can he when he doesn't understand where he went wrong? Luckily, a friendly flying fox swoops in to teach Aye-Aye a lesson and helps him to understand how his trickster ways made the people feel. Can Aye-Aye find a way to prove to the villagers that he's changed? Will they give him a second chance? Will you? On the surface, "Aye-Aye Gets Lucky" is about a misunderstood lemur finding a way to win love, but look deeper, and it's a story about empathy, self-acceptance, community, and second chances. Kids love the fact-filled spread at the end of the story where they can learn about the aye-aye and flying fox, ways to help endangered animals, and even how to draw them! Endangered & Misunderstood is an ongoing series of children's picture books that takes a different approach to the serious subject of lesser-known endangered animals, with an emphasis on laughter, adventure, and themes everyone can relate to. Buy "Aye-Aye Gets Lucky" to help this endangered lemur turn his luck around. All proceeds go towards the protection and conservation of endangered lemurs, just like Aye-Aye."
This type of Book is good for...
Kids, people who read to them, people who like animals and kids' stories.
I especially liked... | ||
The humor and redemption parts. And the how to draw an aye-aye and flying fox part at the end. And the interesting facts about both at the end.
I didn't like... | ||
I thought it would take more than one act of redemption to turn things around but it didn't spoil the book or anything.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Write this review so maybe others will learn to like aye-ayes too.

Further Comments... | ||
I enjoyed reading this cute children's book about the Aye-Aye and learning about this little endangered lemur and his new friend the flying fox. I even tried to draw the lemur but my drawing didn't look a whole lot like the one in the book. Maybe with practice. We have ring-tailed lemurs and red-ruffed lemurs as the zoo I most often visit. They can be hilarious. I love seeing them being active. The only time they aren't tends to be when it's super cold or super hot. The zoo (thankfully!) lets them stay inside whenever they want so when the temperatures are extreme, they tend to stay inside. Or when it's super hot, they just lie in the shade. Even then, they're still cute. They choose some funny positions to rest in sometimes. I wonder if we can tag people in these reviews? I think Elfycia Lee ☮ is the only Writing.com member I know that lives where this cute critter is native to (Malaysia). I wonder if she's seen one in person? As of today, this book is currently free on Amazon in the USA. It's also in the Kindle Unlimited program at the moment, so if you are paying for that, you can borrow it for "free." There are, I think, four more books in the series and I definitely want to read them all.
