Summary of this Book...
This is the story of how we should be grateful for the beauty a winter's night holds. I think. Other than that, there isn't a big plot. But, it's a book for small children.

I wasn't sure what tied all the pictures to the book. Don't get me wrong; the illustrations are exquisite. But they are really just a bunch of animals standing in snowy landscapes. The author doesn't mention any of the animals, only the snow and details of the landscape. I guess the intention is to make children understand the importance of treating our environment well and being grateful for the majesty of the natural world. I think children will love to see the animals. They will hold children's attention. It's just, as an adult, I would have liked the author to include them in the narrative as well as the pictures. Because, at the moment, the words don't really match up to the pictures. However, as I mentioned above, the pictures are exquisite. In particular, the squirrels. The night sky and landscape is wonderful in that picture. I liked her rhymes. They worked and made the narrative a really smooth read. Her words are very soothing and, I'm sure, will make young children feel content and safe. They will hopefully be in the mood for snuggle time after having this story read to them.
