Judy a dog who survived as a prisoner of war dog did incredible acts to take care of her immediate family of service men. Together they struggle to survive the savagery of the Japanese and nature while being driven to work and starve to death. The English pointer is shipwrecked twice, injured, has encounters with a culture that sees dogs a delicious meal, and does incredible acts that keep everyone together. This book also has details of the history of the time period and unforgettable characters to show you the reality of serving in the military and the reality of being a POW. Judy is the only dog who is documented as a POW that I know of at this time.

Readers who like mysteries, thrills, conflict, and history wrapped together with of course a wonderful dog will enjoy reading this book.

I liked all the characters who were alien against Japan ,Germany, and others. I especially like Judy.

I didn't like the way people were treated which is detailed and shows how difficult it was to survive.

I wanted to give Judy a hearty pat and salute her for everything she did for everyone in those parlous times.

I feel a great respect for Judy and her family of POWs. My feelings for Judy and what she did are deep with respect for her and for her unique abilities. It is an honor to have known her through this book.

Judy's story is more than well worth reading. She is one of the bravest dogs I have ever gotten to know through books. Her story will keep people on the edge of their seat and reading.

Dog lovers, people who like real life stories and other genres; thrillers, mysteries, suspense, conflict, and much more will be taken into a world that is like no other.

To people who might be a bit squeamish, give it a try but there are scenes that are very unsettling to say the least.

The story of Judy is one I very much cherish. Through this book I got to know her and feel she is a live in my memory. I salute you Judy.
