Summary of this Book...
It's the era of the ton and Daphne Bridgerton is of age to get married. Mind you, she's in no hurry. No ordinary nobleman will do. Enter Duke Simon Bassett. He's not looking to get married at all, having been scared at a young age due to having been treated badly by his father. When Simon and Daphne meet, the sparks fly. Both of them fight any thought of getting married, but when Simon and Daphne are caught, marriage is on the table. However, there are still issues to be worked out, and lust doesn't necessarily lead to love - that starts with mutual respect, which both have to work on.
This type of Book is good for...
It's a nice escape into the past.
I especially liked... | ||
The Bridgertons. They were a hoot. I appreciated the complexities of Simon's character.
I didn't like... | ||
There is a scene where Daphne "seduces," Simon that I didn't care for, as Simon, who is drunk, is not in shape to give his full consent.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Read Book 2. | ||
I recommend this Book because...
It's a romance with interesting character and good internal conflict.
Further Comments... | ||
I haven't watched the series, and probably won't. After reading the book, I didn't not feel motivated to watch the series. If anything, while I appreciated Simon's internal conflict, I felt he was a bit too emasculated for my tastes and, for me, as a reader, I have no desire to read a book or a series, where I feel a man is 'emasculated.'
