Summary of this Book...
This book is a very exciting continuation to A Discovery of Witches. In the last book, Diana and Matthew fell in love, much to the horror of the other witches, vampires and demons. In this book, Diana and Matthew travel back in time (to the 1500’s to 1600’s) to find the book/manuscript (ashmole 782). Diana still does not want to have anything to do with her magical powers, as she is a decedent of the very first witch to be burn in Salem. But her powers are needed, and Matthew seeks out a witch who can teach Diana how to use and control her powers. In the past, they meet many of Matthew’s old friends, and they seek out many people who could possibly help them. They have to be very careful though, not to let anyone know that they have travelled through time. And most of all they have to keep the Congregation (the governing group) from finding out about their love for each other, which is deepening. Much danger follows them in this book.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who wants to read a different kind of vampire story, a different kind of magic story and a different kind of love story
I especially liked...
The connection between the changes in the past and main characters' present are very creatively written, and the jumps between the two time periods, easy to follow.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Pick up book 3 and start reading, which I did.
This Book made me feel...
I found myself cheering, and laughing out loud with the characters in different spots throughout the book.
The n/a of this Book...
The author does a great job of matching the past and the present, like when a message from the past is sent to the present in a book.
I recommend this Book because...
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It is more suspenseful than book one.
Further Comments...
The ending isn't as powerful as that of book one, in that I didn't get the feeling of a clear cliff-hanger. Nevertheless, I am eager to read book three.
