Retired lawyer Andy runs a dog rescue and is passionate about placing dogs into good forever homes. Although many dogs have been placed in good homes there is one dog and one new owner who will be remembered. Lion finds a wonderful home with an elderly lady who falls in love with him. Lion's new person calls Andy to ask if he will take care of Lion if her stepson is unable to do so should something happen to her. Andy agrees to take on the responsibility and thinks no more about the encounter.

Andy is surprised by an invitation to attend the old lady's reading of her will and that her stepson has been arrested. Andy has learned about the old lady and the business and continues to find out more details. As he digs deeper into this mystery he finds that things may not be as they seem.

Readers who enjoy animal stories, especially dog stories, mysteries, thrillers, and drama will enjoy reading this book.

I enjoyed all of this book, especially the uncovering of details about the old lady and her past.

I didn't like the lady being killed, but it's a murder mystery so to be expected.

When I finished this book I wanted to see what else the author wrote.

It is nicely written. I felt like I got to know the characters, was in the scenes, and I had spent quality time with Lion. I would have given him pettings.

The pace of this book is decently applied and kept me reading.

This book is a dog lover mystery with unforgettable characters and a sweet older dog that will wrap you around his paw.

I can't think of anything except if murder mysteries are not a genre a reader enjoys maybe another book would be a better choice.

I plan to read more of these books in the future. I enjoyed the writing style.
