Summary of this Book...
This is the story of three women — Lily, Cecilia and Kristen — whose lives and stories are interwoven.

Set in Cape Cod, MA, the descriptions of the beach and water and buildings is rich and vivid. A lot of the book centres around creativity and art, and, in many ways, this book kind of reads like a painting. I love the descriptions of Dune Cottage, where much of the story takes place. And I loved how the sea and its salty air and seafood was everywhere. All of my senses were singing.

Most importantly though, for me, the author wrote about women who are completely relatable. They are any women and all women, I think. Each of the three narrators are lonely in their lives. Each woman needs to do something drastic to find their way to happiness (and to love). And their stories converge around the art of the late painter, Cameron Lapthorne, and Dune Cottage. And, oh my word, I felt for all of the main characters: Cecilia, whose husband Cameron died a year ago, but with whom she always felt invisible creatively. She has felt so lonely, since long before he died. Kristen, her daughter, is married to Theo who is a brilliant trauma surgeon. If only he could have made his wife a priority over his patients every now and again. And then, Lily. She has just dropped out of medical school (against her parents’ wishes) and fled to the Cape to become an artist. Her parents have never understood her talent. It’s made her have low self-confidence. Also, the man she had been in love with for years has just proposed to the woman who bullied her relentlessly at school.

Lots of cool dynamics going on. I really enjoyed this book. It’s great for a beach read. It was a wonderful way to escape for a while. If you want a quick, easy read, then I recommend this book.
This type of Book is good for...
People who want to escape in a good story. People who like a little romance in their books.
I especially liked...
Cecilia. She was just the best character, and I found myself relating to her so much. Actually, that was true of all the characters.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read another Sarah Morgan. One of her Christmas stories, perhaps.
This Book made me feel...
Happy. Sad. Then happy again. Warm and relaxed.
