Summary of this Book...
"A laugh-out-loud, opposites attract romance about three of the world’s most beloved C’s: Christmas, Coffee, and Cats.

Veterinarian and animal lover Kara Ingalls needs a Christmas miracle. Opening the Meow and Furrever Cat Café to find loving homes for adorable, adoptable cats was a dream come true—but with more cats than customers, it’s quickly turning into a nightmare. If Kara can’t figure out some way to get the café out of the red, it won’t last past the holidays.

Marketing guru Ben Reese may be annoyingly smart and frustratingly bossy, but when he hatches a plan to put the café in the “green” by Christmas, Kara realizes that she’d be a fool to turn down his help. And so what if he turns out to be an excellent problem solver and nerdy-hot—he can’t even handle fostering one little kitten. She needs to keep their relationship professional and focus on saving the cafe.

But if Ben and Kara can set aside their differences—and find homes for all the cats by Christmas—they might discover that, by risking their hearts, they’ll have their own purr-fect holiday . . . together."

"About the Author

Codi Gary is the author of twenty-nine contemporary and paranormal romance titles including bestselling books Things Good Girls Don't Do and Hot Winter Nights under the name Codi Gary and the laugh-out-loud Mistletoes series under the pen name Codi Hall. She loves writing about flawed characters finding their happily ever afters because everyone, even imperfect people, deserve an HEA.

A Northern California native, she and her husband and their two children now live in Southern Idaho where she enjoys kayaking, unpredictable weather, and spending time with her family, including her array of adorable furbabies. When she isn't glued to her computer making characters smooch, you can find her posting sunsets and pet pics on Instagram, making incredibly cringy videos for TikTok, reading the next book on her never-ending TBR list, or knitting away while re-watching Supernatural for the thousandth time!"

It was a cute read.
Further Comments...

It was slightly funny to me (I don't think I actually laughed out loud? I might have and forgot though), but mostly sweet and cozy. I thought I'd enjoy the romance the most and the cat cafe secondarily, but it was the reverse. I was happy for the couple though, when they finally worked things out. I just really enjoyed all the cats and the 25 days of Christmas, cat cafe style.

I really loved the last of the 25 cats' adoption story near the end. So sweet.

Kara comes off as a hurt jerk at first, but I warmed up to her pretty quickly. Ben had his faults too, but he was mostly a stand-up guy, and I was happy for their love to blossom and grow.

The kitten Ben rescued played a fun role throughout the book. Hint - he ended up getting named "Chaos." *Smile*

The adorable cat social media descriptions at the top of each chapter's first page were probably my favorite part though. Some were hilarious, some were sweet, and they were all neat. There was also a cute cat line art that varied from chapter to chapter to go with the cat descriptions. I think she could do a little mini book just with that.

For those who do page count goals, I think it's good to note that this book has 385 pages.

I borrowed my copy of this book from my local library. It was in their "new release" section, so I thought it was a new book, but it was actually published back in 2022. Oddly, my library doesn't have the sequel, but it is available for "free" on Kindle Unlimited, if you are already paying for that, right now you can borrow this one and that one from that program (I'm writing this review on the evening of April 18, 2025).

Also, considering that it's three years old, it's doing okay on the Amazon best seller's list. Here are it's stats from the books Amazon sales page:

It has 374 reviews with an average rating of 4.2 stars.

So, I imagine if it weren't for the sex scene (which I skipped, for personal reasons), I would consider it to be a sweet or cozy romance, but, to me, sweet romances don't include actual sex scenes. So I was surprised that was the book's highest scoring category. I was also surprised that it didn't rank in anything for pets or cats.

If I could do 4.5 stars overall, that's what I would pick... but having to choose between 4.0 and 5.0, I went with 4.0. It was a cute, fun read, and good, but not great. I did find myself turning to other books in between, and only finished it this week because it's due back at the library either tonight or tomorrow night.
