Summary of this Book...
It’s been over twenty years since I first read this book. Actually, nearer to thirty. And it’s funny how my perspective has changed as I’ve got older and experienced more of life. What hasn’t changed is how much I enjoyed this book. It has a laugh on every page. And Mark Darcy. Oh, Mark Darcy. One of the most dreamy characters ever created. And that is even without thinking of him as Colin Firth. I’d forgotten about Bridget’s mum and Julio. And poor Bridget’s dad. I really felt for him. All of Bridget’s friends are fab. I love Tom. I want a Tom of my own. This is just a great book that shows what it was like to be a single woman in her late twenties/early thirties in the 1990s. It’s honest and funny Actually, I think it’s probably timeless. This is what it’s like to be a woman, always striving to be someone better than you are, whether that’s with dieting or trying not to buy scratch cards. Really enjoyable. Human, that’s what it is.
This type of Book is good for...
People who want an easy read. Beach reads. It's not in any way talking on the brain.
I especially liked... | ||
The humour. Just about every page, Bridget thought, said, or did something I could relate to. It's scary how accurate the character is at times. And, of course, I loved Mark Darcy.

It's not the best writing in the world. But, then again, it's not the worst.
