Summary of this Book...
Coming Home is the story of Judith Dunbar, a young girl who grows from a young teen and comes into her own as a young woman. It's a tale that happens in the 1930s, with World War II as a backdrop. It's a coming of age story with the themes of love, loss, belonging, and resilience.

My heart went out to the main character. Brought up with her mom, little sister, who is ten years younger, Jess, and a general cook/housekeeper, Phyllis, who is also her greatest confidante. At only fourteen, Judith is pulled out of public school to join a boarding school, as she is left by her mom and sister, who set off to join her father, who is working overseas.

After other life-changing situations, she becomes connected to a fun, glamorous, and loving Carey-Lewis family.

What really touched me was the sense of place and belonging in Cornwall (where the sprawling estate of the Carey-Lewis's is). It sounds like a resident's and an artist's dream. It takes on so much beauty and personality that it almost becomes another character, among an already large cast. We follow Judith and the others through years of love, war, passions, heartbreak, and dreams come true.
