Patch Macauley steals things. He's by all accounts what you would call a "bad kid." Only one person, his best friend Saint, knows why he does the things he does.

But there comes a time when Patch is hailed a hero. Too bad it's after he's disappeared.

Spanning years, lifetimes (of some), careers, marriages and children, this story is at once a mystery as well as an exploration of who we are and what we will do to survive.

Anyone who enjoys sinking their teeth into a meaty story. It's about a young boy who survives against all odds. It's about a serial killer on the loose. This book draws you in and will spit you out unless you hold on with both hands. Hold on, then. It's worth it.

How human all the characters were. I really felt like I got to know each and every one of the main characters. There is some humor interlaced throughout, as there is throughout our everyday lives.

Write this review and recommend it to all my reading friends. I also wanted to research what other books this author has written, and get them in queue.

The depths of despair, pitiless hopelessness and at the same time glimmers of hope. At heart I am an optimist--I always want the good guy to triumph.

Has written other books that I need to read!

I read this book every chance I got. It's rare these days to get hooked into a story like this that made me want to stay up late and neglect other things in favor of reading. I also didn't want it to end--that's always a good sign.
