I was disappointed with this book. It sounded like exactly the kind of book I love, and I’ve read a lot of good things about this author. But it just didn’t do it for me. I didn’t particularly like any of the characters. They didn’t feel real. So I found it hard to care about what happened to them.

Millie is a woman with some kind of criminal past who is hired to clean in an expensive house. She must not, according to the man who hired her, disturb his wife who is always in the same bedroom upstairs. But Millie. an't stay away when she hears arguments and then the woman crying.

The last part of the book — the final twists — were good, and I did find this last part quite exciting.

Perhaps it didn't work because it is the second in a series of which I haven't read the first. That said, I didn't even realise there was a prequel as I was reading it.

Overall, it was okay. I didn’t hate it. But I definitely didn’t love it either.

Anyone wanting a quick read.

The twists at the end. They kept me on my toes.

Any of the characters. None of them had any likeable qualities.

Read something I would enjoy.

Annoyed. Bored.
