Summary of this Book...
Meet Gail Baines. A woman in her early 60s, Gail is having a crisis of sorts when she thinks she's being fired from a job she doesn't really like. So she quits. Maybe?

This is also the day before her only daughter's wedding. And the day her ex-husband shows up with a rescue cat, wanting a place to stay.

In Anne Tyler style, we are plopped down into the quiet lives of ordinary people who are anything but ordinary. Gail is our main character. We are privy to her anxieties, worries and regrets.

It's a sweet story. Maybe the ending is something you'll expect. I didn't.

This type of Book is good for...
Reading curled up by the fireplace on a rainy afternoon.
I especially liked...
I've read a number of Anne Tyler's books and while I don't remember details, I do remember that she always makes the reader feel like they have a right to be sitting on the couch in the living room while all goes on around you. You find things out, you deal with things. You make decisions right along with Gail and come to understand just a little bit more about her than you did when you started the book.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Review the books I had read by the author and see what other books I have not yet read.
This Book made me feel...
The word 'cozy' comes to mind. There's nothing (I'm using the wrong word here, probably) "exciting" about the tale. It's just three days of life. But written to good effect and read the same way.
The author of this Book...
Is a Pulitzer Prize winning author. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has read her work.
I recommend this Book because...
It's not overly long. I finished it front to back in about three hours, all told. Which to me is the perfect length for a book of this type.
