Sloan Cooper, a cop, is shot during a robbery. She almost doesn't survive, but is brought back to life on the operating table.

She goes back home to her parents to recuperate. Used to pushing herself, she gets frustrated by how long it's taking to recover.

In the meantime, brothers Nash and Theo Littlefield have moved into the area to start new lives.

Sloan starts to put the pieces together on a string of missing persons.

There is dating. Romance. Lots of dog training.

When the pieces fall into place, it's almost too late for Sloan.

Nora Roberts is, at heart, a romance writer. She's got a huge list of books she's written over the years.

If you like romance with a little suspense thrown in, you'll like this book.

Nora's female characters are never weak. This holds true in this story.

I'd say her books follow a formula, but I don't hate that. We can all use some triumph over the evil and the lazy, a feel-good story, once in a while.

Happy. The good guys win.

Is so very prolific. I applaud the sheer number of books she's written over the years. Way to go!

It's a great escape.
