I am an aspiring writer, in that I have a day job as an Environmental Consultant to pay the bills and keep me in books. Although this often can be writing dry reports it does get me out and about all around the country meeting interesting people and giving me inspiration for my writing, or at least I hope so anyway. |
If I was to say I don't know what type of writer I am would that be dodging the question ? |
Other than writing I like to potter around in the garden and grow a few vegetables and fruit to eat. I also am a keen birdwatcher and take the opportunity to do some "birding" at lunchtimes and weekends. |
My 10 books in no order are: Breakfast at Tiffanys, The Remains of the Day, The Mosquito Coast, The Grapes of Wrath, The Long Firm, Lord of the Flies, The Periodic Table, Close Range, and American Gods. So quite an eclectic selection I think. |
kazuo ishiguro, Paul Theroux, Annie Proulx, JK Rowling and Donna Tartt I would say are my top 5. |
I have to be in the right mood for poetry but I like the poetry of Phillip Larkin, Dylan Thomas, John Betjeman and Carol Ann Duffy ( born and raised in Stafford). |
Definite favourite film is The Goonies, others i like include Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 , Walk The Line, and Spirited Away. |
