As I looked at your list, I was whispering inside Out 2. We hav a family movie night for new releases. Them movies stream so we watch from the comfort of our home. The 11 year old has the entire collection of plushies. I think I like 2 better than 1 because of the new emotions.

I myself would prefer a country host versus a city. I know that the cost would be passed onto the spectator but if knowing ahead of time where things are going to be would give a lot more people the opportunity to attend the Olympics. When it falls on one location, prices are jacked up like hotel costs, airbnb costs even transportation because they know people will be forced to pay.

I realize Elisa makes some valid points and it would take quite an adjustment but once it has happened for a while I think the quirks could be ironed out. It's already been happening in Europe with the winter events and no one made big fusses they adapted.

I've never been to an Olympics but I always watch on TV. I like your idea of a hosting country rather than city which makes it seem available to more people in person. UF (here in Gainesville) has some who made it! Yay them!!!

Having been to the Olympics as a spectator, I can see some issues with some of the ideas posted here.

* Hosting events in other cities: While this is sometimes necessary, the cost of getting to and from the venues gets passed onto the spectators. It's not just a financial cost, either. Since not all countries have efficient rail systems, flights are needed to get people to these far flung venues. Depending on the number of people expected to be in the stands, that's going to result in perhaps greater emissions compared to having venues in a more compact area. Also, logistical costs for even getting essential people there (and back) are higher. More hours will be needed by various press agencies to determine how to get their crews and equipment to the remote venues and back to the main city, as reporters and photographers alike are often covering multiple sports in that time frame.

* Having a country host vs. Having a city host: The country model works well for a single sporting event with multiple stages because those in attendance have the shared intent of seeing how one tournament p,as out. The Olympics are not especially linear here. Many spectators go to see a variety of sports over a short period of time. Having many events in a reasonably compact area makes this possible. Spreading out events over a country makes this a lot more difficult, especially for spectators traveling from outside the host country. I have been planning to attend a Winter Olympics, and the biggest headache has been trying to figure out transport. This is one of the reasons I ended up deciding not to go to the 2026 Olympics and may end up waiting for Salt Lake City to host (where it's a fairly compact setup).

* Encouraging travel: This...doesn't always work. If the OKC leadership gets the right resources to promote businesses and attractions outside the canoe venue, the tourist dollars may get spread out more evenly. That's not a guarantee. It is more likely that people will go to the venue and back and not visit (m)any other businesses in between. This can cause local resentment and possibly even negative economic outcomes.

I have more thoughts on this subject, but I think this is a reasonable starting point for further exploration of the topic.

I'm currently reading a book called Chosen by Benedict Jacka. I really wanted to read the first in the series but it wasn't available.

I believe Taken is the first book.

I have a second hardbound book Science Fiction/ Fantasy book called Revisionary Book 4 By Jim C .Hines. They also didnt have the first three in the series. I have a feel
ingg I might not understand it without first reading 1-3.
I think this one might be harder to read. I'll try though. Maybe I'll check at the used book store. They might have some. There's only 4 books in the series.

I need to write your list down. So many sound interesting. I like the alternate reality and parallel universes.

I like all of the books you listed.

I plan on viewing your other posts about movies etc.

These books sound interesting.

I have read #1 The I invisible Life if Addie LaRue. I enjoyed it. I won't spoil it for you. The demon is pretty tricky, and yet likeable in some ways.

Have you read any of The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher? The main character is a detective, wizard, and one ifvthe good guys.

Theres humor in his work Jim Butchers work. I love it..

I read that whole series. I think there were 17 books.

They did a few episodes on TV, but ruined it because the scenes were out if order and so some things didnt make sense. Then they stopped auring it.

I enjoy hiking, but I would need to get in better shape to do any rough terrain hiking. Now, it's cold outside, there's snow, and it's just not a good time to go out and start hiking, so, as I mentioned before, I'll stick to hiking inside. I'm going to hike to the kitchen and get some Doritos.

June 2024 Watch List

To qualify for my Watch List every month, the following has to be something that I've watched that's new to me. It doesn't necessarily have to be a current show, but it can't be reruns or rewatches of something I've already seen. So if I'm including it in this list, it means this month is the first time I've watched it. I'll put "DNF" (Did Not Finish) next to anything that I stopped watching and have no immediate plans to finish.

My wife continued to binge-watch the procedurals this month (five seasons of FBI in one month!), and then I had to take a break and start watching some other stuff, so I got caught up on a few other shows that I've been meaning to watch. On the television side of things, I'm really hard-pressed to pick a favorite. Hacks is such a smart show, and Season 3 definitely didn't disappoint; especially the cliffhanger they left the end of the season on. But I think I loved The Legend of Vox Machina (an grown-up animated show based on the Campaign One of the hit online live-play D&D campaign from Critical Role) might have been even better. Bringing the exploits of that campaign to life and imagining things through the lens of animation was really, really fun. But from a pure nostalgia and professional pride perspective, I think my favorite show would have to be X-Men '97, an animated show we've been working on for months, and that continues where the very popular Saturday morning cartoon series left off.

I didn't watch nearly as many movies as television this month, and in general they were pretty forgettable. Especially Ferrari which I didn't even get through because it was so slow. But Inside Out 2 was surprisingly great, and I think I might have enjoyed it more than my kids. The new "grown-up" emotions were a great complement to the original five. And the way they depicted anxiety and the way it can both protect you as well as completely consume you was really well done. I honestly saw a lot of myself in the way the emotions interplayed in the movie and it was a great follow-up to the first film.
