I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.
I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.
I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.
kare. Get a ski pole. It is what I use in winter can dig into snow and ice. Shows me snow depth and helps me have good footing on ice. Found mine years ago in the local Good Will store for cheap price.
IMHO, The weather is less predictable than 50 years ago. Regardless, there are cycles.
We have had brutal winds this week, some snow, 16°F right now. The cold is important to kill off the nasties and snow in the mountains will help our streams come summer.
I got a cane for walking but it won't help with ice.
I'm very concerned that more experienced people are being replaced in every dynamic of our society and that more and more incidents will occur. I'm at a loss as to why neither of their radar detected the other's presence. And how much the radio chatter was a distraction.
I am very sorry for all involved, their lives were taken too soon.
As I write a response to you a private medical transport plane crashed in Philadelphia Friday evening. The first responders are dealing with a fire as the result of the crash. Did you know there was a small plane crash last week in California and another one in Nevada.
My family buried secrets. I'll never know the answers to at least two events that apparently traumatized me as a child. I'm still bitter about that. Yes, I know I should let go; but, they colored my life for most of it.
Morning found me bundled up and out the door early, into an awesome storm. I filled the bird feeder on the east end of the house. Now it is filled with various birds; doves, cardinals, woodpeckers, chickadees, nuthatches, and others.
I walked to the mailbox to pick up the mail. A long walk, as I headed down the drive I covered my hat with the hood of my coat, while holding my hand up in front of my face to block the stinging, wind driven snow. I couldn't fall down because the snow in the yard was already up to my knees so pretty much I would be a snow statue quick, if I stood still. Walking west toward the mail box was difficult but walking east toward the barn the wind blew me along so it wasn't hardly a problem.
After chores I spent some time on Reuters to read the breaking news. I happened to click on an indepth spiel about Trump and the next 4 years. It was neutral and indepth, a good read.
After that, I was off to do my blog for the day with a large cup of hot Peach OOlong Tea from Stash. Then the kicker. Another 30-Day-Blogger with family troubles. I hope 5-Sixer is managing today. I know how difficult things can be when we are drawn away from regular schedules to balance family business.
I think this is the one thing that is difficult about blogging with regular friends and making friends online. There is not a lot of hands on help, that we can offer, since we live in all directions, many different countries, different states, and different seasons.
God Bless 5-Sixer. What ever the problems our prayers and good wishes are for you! This is a bad time for a heavy, swirly snow storm with Thanksgiving week coming up.
