A Journal to impart knowledge and facts
July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

Prompt: Gifts
Let's think about the word, "gift." What do you think about gifts in any shape or form? What has been a real gift to you?

I like to give gifts. Sometimes in stores they are rounding up to help a charity. I like to do that because it is just a small amount and when gathered together helps someone. Our electric coop does it monthly. They add it to a fund kept for helping people having trouble paying electric bills.

I believe everyone has spiritual gifts just need to find them.

Giving gifts is often more fun than getting them. There is never enough money to give as heavy as I would like, and the budget is not mine alone. I like Christmas because of the giving aspect. A time to make a difference.

Keep safe.

Prompt: What are you thankful for?

At my age it is easy to be thankful for all kinds of things. I'm especially thankful for having a home to live in. I'm thankful for libraries that let me read for free. I'm thankful that some of my children still come around when they can.

Having pets around even though people told me at 60 I was too old to keep pets is important to me. The dogs are my walking companions. The parrots are well cared for just because they live with me. They sing when I play the guitar. The cats treat me like one of their kittens. Purring to keep me healthy. I read that cat purring helps cats build strong bones. I hope it is helping my bones too. I'm always happy to gain knowledge that will help my aging body get up and move one more day.

I'm thankful I can still play my guitar and am still learning things about playing classical guitar I did not learn at an earlier age. Still finding new music to enjoy. Some of the New Age music I really like.

See, I could go on for a long time. Don't forget WDC. It gives me somewhere to visit to talk to friends and read other writings about other lives. And find the prompts that give me ideas to write about.

I'm also thankful for the small times I can help others in small ways. Once in a while I remember the yesterdays.

Bye for now. Merit Badge in BCoF 2
