A Journal to impart knowledge and facts

July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

Someone has been stalking my farm and taking things outside again. While my little companion dog was outside they stole his name tag off his collar. It is brass and cost a lot of dollars. I'm extremely distressed that this would be continuing. Now, I will not be able to let the dog into the pen without watching his any more. Plus, a State Police man investigated some of my complaints a few years ago and told me it was not suppose to be happening any more. Since then things have been a little better but not any more. NBC local news ran a story about how many problems concerning animals have been happening in the last several weeks. This story was reported by the Anna Shelter. The story ran Thrus or Fri or this week. One White cat had his eye gouged out. I'm seriously disturbed that we have people who take out evil on helpless creatures who cannot fight back. If it had not happened in the 90's I would think it was harassment of the elderly but this is the same kind of thing that happened for years here. Before they stole Dog licenses off dog collars and killed my chickens, broke needles off in my horses leg, spread fleas around the yard (yes they actually left the container on my porch that they brought the flea in.) Now, I have to carry my gun every day again. *Rant* I'm not a happy person today. I don't believe in this kind of evil now I'll have to be the one to stop it again. It is the kind of thing the state police can't control or don't bother with.

World News https://www.rueters.com

Saturday near Mosul was an important day for war l. I just saw about 20 pictures of displaced children from Mosul. Frightened faces, tearful, hungry, and blank with confusion written on these children's faces. If you are a praying person pray for these little souls who now have to rely a great deal on who will care for them and what experiences they will find in their growing lives.

Threatened rain all day but has not hit yet. I spent the day shopping and working on Nano assignment for today. October is almost over. Hard to believe.

Bye for Now. This book is a Hoot!

This book is a Hoot!

The book "How to Teach Physics to Your Dog" is curling my brain. One day I watched a video on PBS that told how Particles, protons, electrons are constantly flowing through our bodies on a daily basis and we just don't know it. Reality is a thing of the past if you read enough of this kind of science.

This morning I can see a blanket of brown and gold leaves off the Tulip tree covering my view from the window by the desk. I was just lazily gazing out at the scene. Suddenly, what I thought was fallen limb about 6 inches long sticking straight up out of the leaves sprouted two side arms about 2 inches long. I thought Huh? limbs don't sprout arms. Then the arms disappeared. Then a small pointed nose pointing south appeared. The sun was throwing rays across the leaves turning them golden but it also was casting shadows across a small red squirrel who was sitting straight up in the leaves making his red fur turn dark enough to be mistaken for a limb. He was embedded in the leaves. They were covering his tail which normally would have be a recognizable trait. After while he scampered over to the bird feeder and chased away the doves that were eating seed on the ground by the feeder. He had to jump high scattering leaves with each jump as he ran because the leaves are deep in that spot.

We still have trees with green leaves grabbing the last part of photosynthesis they can get before casting their garments to the ground.

OK have a good day. Go squirrel watching while they are still scampering about. *Laugh*

Listening to Steven Halpern music today. His album "Among Friends" is interesting on a cloudy golden leaf strewn day.

Science thoughts to think about:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/aliens-proof-evidence-facts-stars-scie...

Some scientists have written a paper declaring a hypothesis about signals from Aliens that have been picked up in one section of space. I find this interesting since I don't really believe there is anything out there like us. Unless space is the heavenly layer?

I'm curious about what comes after the election. Will some of the violence get better or worse.

I put out suet this week now the woodpeckers are starting to show up for a quick meal.

Bye for now

This was done for Reeling in your readers character A lovely day for a horseback ride. Lots of leaves down. Horse feet swishing through leaves while you meander down a trail. Shush Lovely.

Weather news:

Hurricane Seymour is suppose to weaken by Wednesday or Thursday.

Science News:

Physicists found an atomic nucleus with a bubble in the center. I never even wondered if that was possible. Human minds are remarkable.

Look out for November might be a humdinger of a month.

Bye for Now.

Just walked in for a few minutes to pick up some Nano Prep Challenge Assignments. It is still dark out. The end of October is now sailing toward me with few minutes to spare. Today is barn cleaning day so I hope the weather is cooperative.

The sun is not peaking on the horizon but the sky is showing itself with early morning grey light. So, I'm guessing cloudy skies to start the day.

Breakfast is calling me. Have a good day.

The news from the AP about the EU struggle is worth watching.

This book is a Hoot!

After finishing a wall it took me a week to put the house in order and keep up with Nano Prep. Now, I am taking time to catch up on my reading I challenged 2 books for this month with The Monthly Reading Challenge {what was I thinking or wasn't I thinking.) One of them is read but not reviewed. Today I hope to finish the other since they are both library books and due tomorrow.

Have a good day --keep reading *BookStack3*--Keep writing *Writing* . Write On!*WDC*

Just a word or two today. It rained and poured water all day and I mean every minute of every hour, rain. It's the first time all summer I had to use an umbrella. Luck would have it, it was the one day of the month we shop for animal feed and groceries. I had to carry the umbrella over the grocery cart to keep the groceries dry. It is still raining. *Wave4* s of *DropV* s.

K couldn't get on the internet today so I feel fortunate to post this message. Keep dry and surf on! *Laugh*

Manx Cat from Japan

The Pennsylvania Higher Education system is in the news today. I don't know why they are striking. This negotiating took place in 2000 ( I think that was the year??) but they did not strike. Anyway, we used to attend a class that always gave us the news about the negotiations before class started. The article I read on the AP said the Union was concerned for the quality of education the students would receive. It does seem as if in the last several years education in Pennsylvania is struggling with whether to educate students of any age or just bus them back and forth from home and go back to pretending to educate like they did when I was growing up. Of course I can't speak for the whole state. I just know a lot about the schooling injustice within the North Western part of the state. With the internet and an ability to read students can overcome a lack of knowledge it they want but no one will probably notice if they succeed.

The assignment for the 21st of Oct. on Nano Prep Challenge threw me some curves. I worked out some scenarios based on maybes', but I'm still not sure how this plot is going to play out so who knows how the protagonist will really change?? The assignments can really make you think while your trying to formulate the story.

Today's weather is pure rainy with thunder. I put out feed in the feeders for the birds. I see the back feeder is having a tussle between two blue Jays and a chipmunk. I still don't know how the chippy is getting into the feeder since we have it equipped with an anti chipmunk device. I haven't been able to catch him getting into the feeder. I know when he leaves he just jumps out onto the ground about a 4 foot down leap.

Have a great day. If it's raining where you are keep dry. *Wave3*

Fairy playing a flute
*Fairy3*

Watching out the East window this morning, while the sun was rising, sunlight caught the tulip tree swathed in mist. The foliage of large leaves has not yet totally turned into autumn colors. The large leaves became heavy with moisture and brought the lowest limbs down so they almost touched the ground. Yesterdays wind was striping dead leaves, off the trees, throwing them through the air like an autumn leaf storm.

I was up early. I was working on Oct. Prep assignments and cleaning. Now, that our new wall is finished the room is getting back to normal. I am hoping to get finished early and spend the afternoon reading.

The European Space Agency is an Intergovernmental organization. Their Exomars Schiaparelli Lander will touch down on Mars, October 19.

Landing on Mars. *Cool* Hope the Martians don't mind.*UmbrellaW*

I saw a commander of USA air forces speak last night on the news. He says the West will have to be on High Alert for retaliation when the ground forces retake Mosul. Pray for all the innocent evacuees who are presently running for their lives as the area becomes a hotbed of violent actions.

The End.
