A Journal to impart knowledge and facts |
July 22, 2015 I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done. I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them. I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC. |
It's the last day of our fundraising month and we need one more fun activity to close the month. Are there similar organizations where you live like the Ku Klux Klan ? How do you feel when you see articles like this in the media in this 2016?![]() ![]() ![]() There is an active KKK organization in Pennsylvania. The last news article I saw was a few years ago when they held a rally in the park in front of the courthouse in Meadville Pa. They wore white sheets, hoods and hid their identities. there are a lot of organizations in this area with hidden agenda's such as Masonic's, Eastern Star's, Rebecca's, Knights of Columbus, and others. All of my paternal relatives are Masonic. Secret Societies are just that, Secret. They try to use their influence to change the world. Sometimes for the good; sometimes for a selfish reason. They use psychology to push their own agendas. In the end they are people doing things people do good and bad. Such organizations are an integrated part of the United States Culture. I have a book that is free from www.gutenburg.org. The author is Thomas Keightley. "Secret societies of the Middle East" As a recorded history this book is difficult to read but has an extensive record of Middle East Culture. I have been surprised how much of it relates to thinking in the Middle East in today's fight against terrorists. It does not take sides only records the history. I was surprised about the Anaheim, California article because the KKK did not try to hide their identities. The idea about having a rally saying "White People Matter" I have heard that lately from other people who are sick of one color or another pushing themselves forward. Truthfully "All people matter". I saw a Muslim woman being interviewed from England when the cartoon problem was open for discussion. She was sick of Mohammad being used in cartoons. She stated that Jesus was never treated in cartoons badly. Immediately a cartoonist came on in a different interview. He stated how Jesus was used badly in a cartoon. He gave a date, time, and article reference. The Christians never said anything about it. In today's reference the KKK came prepared for violence with weapons. So why the rally. It only heats up peoples tempers. Last Sunday night on "Madam Secretary" there was a dirty bomb. One of the people called the terrorist mind set medieval thinking. Somewhere the educational system is failing. People don't want to work. When they have jobs the factories close. They think freedom means we have to fight over every idea put forth. Our country is just one other country. It has never been great just struggling to get along. All people need housing, food, health benefits without destroying each others environment. ![]() I'm done. Ellen DeGeneres still has the right thought. At the end of her program she says, "Be Kind to One Another." ![]() apondia#1781748 apondia#1781748 |
You walk out of the grocery store one day and discover that the streets are full of cows on bicycles. What’s even weirder is that you’re the only one who finds this odd. What is going on? It's your story, you show us.![]() "well, it's tha beginin of 2031. No more newfangled new stuff til the new century arrives so whats them durn cows doin in the street?" Pointing with a shaky finger at gernsey cows riding 3 wheel bicycles; Clem todders out of the grocery store clutching the handles of a cloth shopping bag. "Probably the workins of that rapscallion monkey. The One that lives in the Blogging Banana Bar. I heard he was a muse workin for some writer with a new twist of ideas for stories." Pert sifted through his own bag of groceries until he dug out a Mars Bar. The candy had the paper peeled back with a scrumptios bite already removed. "Waddaya mean a new twist of ideas?" "Don you read the newsys?" "What fer?" "The papers give you the real doins thats' why." "Okaay. Jist get back to the twist part and the crazy cows on bycicles." Clem was still poiinting one finger at the cows. He was getting ![]() "I read about somethin in the paper where a writer can make somethin up in his mind then it appears like a picture in the air. Its a gallopin new tech way to write. Maybe these here cows ain't real, jist a picture in thet monkeys mind?" "I'm goin find out if its real." Toddering forward in a drunkin manner Clem slings his grocery bag straight into the circling cow as it rides past. Crash, the cow and bike go down into the path of a second rider. The crash elongates and reverberates as other riders collide and fall into a pile. Cows are heard screaming, "Moooo," in loud agonizing voices, the sound echoing across the parking area. "Hey! What are you doing to my cows?" A man runs out of the store flailing his fist into Clem. "I spent a lot of time working on this circus act and your goin pay!" Clem and the man roll around on the ground beating each other with their fists. Pert sits down on a nearby bench. He pulls out a cell phone. "Hello. I got a new story fer ya over at the grocery store. Yep its about that circus act in the newsy today. The one advertising at the grocery store. I think there's a story you might want to check into right away." Pert snaps the phone closed pulls out his candy bar and takes a big bite while he watches the action. ![]() apondia#1781748 apondia#1781748 |
WDC offers each of us opportunities to grow in our chosen genre. Tell us how you discovered WDC and what your initial expectations were of the site? How long have you been a member? Do you feel your writing has grown in the time you've been here? And finally, do you have advice for newbies just discovering this site?![]() ![]() ![]() I don't really remember how I found WDC. I've been a member since May 2008. My first membership was free. I think I was looking for work and probably googled writing websites. I did not have any particular expectations. I never do. Reading many of the writings on the website helped my creative urges. My portfolio was created for the purpose of storing things I wrote during college. Then I tried to be a part of the social by doing some of the activities. Most of the time I was thwarted by computer glitches. We have upgraded our internet service twice since then from dial-up to wireless so that helps immensely. My computer was sabotaged twice before so I now have better internet protection. Even this November, I was writing a story after joining October NANO prep. Norton took my file. This has happened before. People taking things I wrote off my computer. Someone took a term paper when I was in college. I told the instructor. So, it was straightened out fast and could not be used by anyone else. This time I was prepared and backed it up to a sandisk and printed out what I wrote. I use "The Journal 7" so every page in the file was dated and copyrighted. If anyone uses my plot I will sue. It is disturbing. But, I have narrowed the problem down to my own relatives. I have some useful talents, animal care (took a course in veterinary assistance (1973), reading, a good memory, now writing. My first blog was on Google. It was book reviews. Somehow I let things just take their course over the years until this summer. Before this summer I just floated along for awhile. Once in awhile I thought of starting a blog on WDC just did not do it. Then I did start the blog, next I found the summer camping on 30 day and I've been blogging since. 30-day Challenge at least gave me some incentive. WDC staff has always given me encouragement. That is why I stayed with it. Life here, where I live is pretty much stressful. There are a lot of superstitious people around. Maybe its that way everywhere and I just don't have any way to make more contact with people. Without a job after college I lost my car and income. If you don't go to church, have a car, or no income you pretty much have problems with a social life. And, I live 5 miles from the nearest settlement. ![]() (One of my neighbors just popped in to say she needed the him-lech maneuver done. The ambulance is with her now. Hope she is all right?) Never a dull moment even though I'm alone here. ![]() I have found a place to use the little I know and people to talk with. WDC has grown as well. I don't think I write fiction well. My training was articles in print journalism. Which, there are a lot of people out there that can write print journalism. So, before I continue with some stories I have written I am taking "Reeling in Your Readers course." I enjoy researching facts the best. I think the course will help my editing abilities and maybe I can find time for more reviews. Newbies: I think every newbie should have a mentor if they want one. During WDC birthday celebration I participated in the fun. I learned more about WDC than ever before. Even I wonder how I arrived at 2015 with so little knowledge about WDC. So, during the celebration I read blogs and welcomed newbies. Some people will jump right in here and get involved others will take time, be more cautious. If you know some one who needs encouragement I volunteer. Owls are fun! ![]() apondia#1781748 |
Do you agree or disagree with her opinion about positive thinking meme's? Do you react positively or negatively when seeing them yourself on the net? Do positive thinking meme's have value to you? Google Definition: meme mēm/ noun noun: meme; plural noun: memes an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by non genetic means, especially imitation. a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc. that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users I read a book owned by my aunt about positive thinking sometime in the late 1950's. Norman Vincent Peale was an American minister and author and a progenitor of "positive thinking". His ideas were not accepted by mental health experts.( Wikipedia) Maybe read it in 1956 to 1959. That is the only book I remember reading by Norman Vincent Peale. Through the years of my life I have met lots of people who equate faith with positive thinking. Some of them probably don't even know about Norman Vincent Peale. Faith should be studied avidly before linking it with anything. Positive thinking without action is not possible. I knew a teen age boy who wanted a red sports car. He really expected someone to walk up and hand him a car because, he was confessing it to happen. I never found out how that turned out. But, my guess would be a good education ending in a job or some kind of crooked enterprise was the only way it would have ended successfully. Positive thinking alone just does not work. And, if someone is already having mental distress, positive thinking indoctrination could actually bring on a break with reality. I always think mental distress is harder to treat than physical. You can set a bone, sew a cut, etc. But, you have to find the root cause of mental health breakdowns and sometimes the root cannot be removed. Like cancer it is difficult to heal. Since we live in an indoctrinated society we need to: 2 Timothy 2:15 King James Version (KJV) 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Even though life as we know it still has some aspects of mystery we as bloggers continue to research the puzzle. apondia#1781748 apondia#1781748 |
Tuesday, February 23, 2016 Prompt is: We've all heard about bizarre occurrences. I am providing a link to one mystery I found interesting.I would like to know your thoughts about this mystery. Do you think this is possible or a farce? Please comment on your fellow bloggers entries too, on Tuesday's getting to know the competitors. ![]() ![]() ![]() I do not believe in reincarnation. But, scientifically speaking DNA is real. And, I know souls are real. So, why not the love and need to rectify a tragic occurrence. Easily done in this instance because the parents are the same parents of the injured twins. The church isn’t in charge, God is in charge. As an example, I offer an occurrence closer to my home. There were two neighbors living across the road from one another. One of the homes was on a higher piece of ground. The home on higher ground had many children. The other home had two boys. One of the older children from the home on higher ground put up a rope swing into a tree. It swung off the bank close to the road. I’m guessing just the boys used it regularly. It was dangerous,so more special to those who used it. The younger of the two boys from the lower home was told not to use the swing because of the way it was built. I am not sure of his age but I think he was 8. One day his mother walked out of the front door to call her son. He was hanging across the road. The rope had somehow slipped up his body and tangled around his neck. He was dead. The mother and father were inconsolable. The mother became pregnant very soon after. She gave birth to a hardy boy. He was the spiting image of the dead son in all ways. The parents continued down the years to believe and exclaim he was the very boy who died in a new body. This happened I think in the 1970’s. I don’t think this qualifies as reincarnation. It counts as a life not lived to its’ fullest just reestablished. I believe the parents, with God all things are possible. If you ever study biology you will find the most amazing unheard of facts. It piles knowledge on knowledge and after while any thing seems possible. ![]() apondia#1781748 |
Please read this article and then create your own take/ version of the story.... be creative and amuse us all with your entry. I believe in your ability. ![]() ![]() ![]() Angels Watching Astronauts “Have you ever sighted them before?” Zanic moved forward in his seat to press the off button on the receiver. “No. I have picked up some chatter between the craft and their base sometimes.” “Let’s contact the ship?” “What for?” Danz laughed. “I’d like to find out more about them.” “You want to mess with the situation. Danz, we have rules that you like to break. That’s why the council teamed you and me. They needed someone with better reasoning power to slow down your unnatural urges on missions.” Zanac jabbed another button on his panel expressing his irritation. The button started an electric pulse commanding the routine tests required on this part of the flight. Danz noticed Zanic’s preoccupation. A few quick movements on Danz’s control panel caused light pulses to begin dancing across the skin of the ship. The light waves swirled out from the ship like a signal. Zanic clocked the test results as the spear shaped vessel paced the Apollo 10 moon mission far enough away to not attract attention. On the NASA orbiting vessel the astronauts discussed the musical sounds they were picking up on their radios. They recorded the sounds forwarding them to NASA on their next data dump. ![]() apondia#1781748 |
Okay on this Random Fact Friday... I am giving you the link to 100 Crazy facts to truly blow your mind. Please pick one that appeals to you and discuss what you think about it, and why you chose it. ![]() I Looked it isn't a Unicorn Real Horses cause the same king of adoration in the hearts of people Unicorns! Unicorns are the national animal of Scotland. William I of Scotland had a Unicorn put on a Coat of Arms in the 12th century. A Unicorn and a lion are shown together on the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom of Great Britain. The Lion is a natural enemy of a Unicorn. The Unicorn depicted with the lion is shown with chains indicating the Unicorn as a exceptionally dangerous beast. Having stated the obvious, let’s move on. I have grandchildren who are smitten with unicorns. They believe in their existence. Of course, they play with My Little Ponies which have horns and wings at the pleasure of their creators. I first became interested in where and when the myth of Unicorns became established, when I read the Harry Potter novels. There are a lot of Jewish myths depicted in Harry Potter. When Potter summons up the aide of a deer, with the help of his father he is reaching into Jewish mysticism. Unicorns are a part of ancient history written up in old manuscripts is Ancient Persia (Iran), Rome, mentioned in Greek manuscripts by Greek travelers, and the Jewish Talmud, as well as kabbalah writings. They were worshiper in Babylon. If a myth continues for a lot of years it needs to meet the needs of the public. A myth must fit the scientific knowledge of the century in which it is founded. It must meet a practical need. People must be able to touch, see, smell, or use it in a physical way. And, last it must be real enough to test. There are a lot of descriptions of real Unicorns, not all of them look like horses. Through the years of time, the size and shape changed but not the peoples love of the myth. The earliest depictions fit the Rhinoceros the best. With one horn sticking out of its muzzle and heavy legs and feet. The Rhino even today is known as a gentle creature that once aroused can flatten a truck. So it meets the need as a truly dangerous beast. Unicorns are known for healing properties, giving joy to the beholder, having magical abilities, and are usually described as horse like. There are other creatures that fit that description such as the Tibetan Antelope. As for the healing abilities, the horn of many creatures are used medicinally in some countries. Because of this ancient fabrication about medicine, Animal Rights Organizations of the world are constantly fighting to get this idea banned in many countries. Poachers of the world would like nothing better, than to stock up on poached Rhino horns. If they can deliberately cause the extinction of the species in order to force the price of horn medicines to fly over the rainbow they would reap billions. For information that will startle and dismay you about animal poaching read “Blood of the Tiger” by J.A.Mills. In 1900 a man named Dr. Dove studied the myth of Unicorns. He came up with enough information from ancient writings to disprove the existence of Unicorns. That is the reality. My grandchildren and possibly your grandchildren will disapprove and disagree. In the hearts of humans the White Horse with the beautiful horn lives on forever. Bringing peace, joy, magic and healing to the world. apondia#1781748 |
Prompt ~ T.S. Eliot said~ "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." Have you ever taken a big chance and watched it pay off? Inquiring minds want to know *BigSmile*![]() ![]() ![]() Yes! ![]() ![]() I decided after reading the book that I would try to really pay attention to telling the truth the best that I can. Kind of research in reality. Wow. When I learned new information; I had to go back and inform someone I misinformed. I had to think before I answered questions. All kinds of controversy erupted. This is before I became a kind of recluse. People began to accuse me of things I never did. They were looking for information on culprits of mischief in their lives. Individuals came back to me and thanked me for changing some situation in their life in a good way. The observers of my situations (caused by telling the truth) began to trust me. That's scary because some people rely on my word now and ask me things just to test their own judgment. ![]() Some people don't want me around for fear I will learn something they don't want other people to know. Or tell something I already know to someone else. Watch your mouth sometimes it seems to have a mind of its own or uses yours instead of letting you use it. ![]() One of the things the USA needs is more truth. People don't trust government because politicians believe lying is the way to get into office. I have even heard media say lying is part of politics. It is not. We need to be able to trust our government leaders. Truth can harm as well as be a benefit but there are many ways to approach a situation or resolve a conversation without a lie. So, don't harm. Help, heal and think before you leap. Don't go back just start from where you are. Ever heard "Don't hide your light under a bushel" Well the bushel is the lie covering the truth that will clear the air. The light is the guidance causing freedom, to shine like the sun. Sounds preachy. Believe it or not there are lots of books out there about telling the truth. ![]() A nation does not need to limp. It needs to stride across solid ground .apondia#1781748 |
I'm blogging to tell you I'm not blogging today. I shoveled 4 foot of snow off the shed roof so I'm resting. It is attached to the back porch so all you do is walk out and shovel. With the weather threatening rain I wanted to get the snow off before it became a very large heavy ice block. A good day to read. Snow floating down 30 degrees outside. I'll be back, maybe tomorrow. ![]() |
