I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.
I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.
I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.
My water used to freeze quite often when I lived in Maine. I used to curl up with a book while the wood stove did its thing warming us up and thawing the water lines.
Vermont Country Store sells pure Vermont maple syrup still. I get Maine maple syrup from my son every year, he would never mix anything in. But would I trust other sources, not so much.
Hot chocolate is like a hug from the inside.”
Do you like hot chocolate, and what are your most favored hot drinks?
Hi.
Yes. I like Hot Chocolate. I have been drinking more of it this winter. I cannot drink it often. It leaves a heavy feeling inside me, that I don't appreciate. I put a day or two between cups. I think the chocolate and warmth is good for my energy levels.
I actually like warm water when I'm eating a meal or trying to keep warm. I discovered warm water is just as good as tea one day, when I ran out of tea.
I do like Oat stem tea as a tisane with lemon mint tea. I also like tea with strawberries dropped in it. Or blueberries. Oat stem tea is my regular go to drink whenever I need a pick me up. It is a mild flavored tea that mixes well with any kind of fruit. When I was a child helping dad in the hay field he taught me to chew on sticks of ripe green orchard grass to keep thirst away. Oat stem tea is similar in flavor to ripe orchard grass stems.
