Well, hey there!
Welcome to Roundup, Montana! If it's a nice day, we'll sit a spell on my porch and talk awhile.
A poem captured my attention the other day.
Even in our sleep, pain which cannot forget
Falls drop by drop upon the heart,
Until, in our own despair,
Against our will,
Comes wisdom
Through the awful grace of God.
You're right - second chances are good, but Yumpin' Yimminy! One felony maybe gets you a pass coupled with good oversight, but multiple felonies seems like an automatic "Thanks for stoppin' by and don't let the door hit you on the way out" kind of thing. I hope it gets resolved quickly. Senior Centers exist for a reason, and having to shut one down for something like this will do nobody any good.
They are rethinking our senior center (access, meals, director...). If I don't agree I can always walk away. They're a private club and don't need my support.
There's been an ad on TV about soundproofing headphone - For Dogs! Great idea. The noise really does a number on them, unless they've been trained by the military for combat.
One New Years Eve a while back, there was a misdirected firewok that set off a huge amount of fireworks ready to use. It pretty much burned down the garage and killed several people with a dozen more seriously injured. Some were put into a coma and shipped to an Arizona burn center for six months or more. Supposedly, all illegal fireworks and no permit. Hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars. I'd rather they bought beer and cirgarettes.
We have the same problem with the rain turning the grsslands green then the sun turning it to straw. Fortunately, we haven't had the idiots recently throwing fireworks into the brush as they drive through. Fingers crossed they're having more fun with beer. The wind always blows those fires this way.
Glad you're on top of the senior drama. Hopefully, it will come out OK.
Cycle back for a bit. A dump committee? You have a dump committee? Why? I thought it is like the job of a residential committee. That's oddly specific.
Jury Duty sounds fun. We no longer have that in Malaysia.
Do you have an old-fashioned line? What's a dryer?
After getting along without a car, a dishwasher, an oven, a dryer, or a full deck of cards... it's befuddling to imagine the dilemma. I did have a car... long time ago; and, a full size refrigerator would be nice. However, I manage.
For me, less = less stress.
Hopefully the small-town issues stay small. The drama isn't always on stage, is it?
As for family... it was hard with Pannya. I met his mother and sister; knew his brother had issues, but Pan was "closed". We're still in touch but the cultural chasm is daunting.
"No Kings Day" will be marked by a parade in Missoula. There will be thousands out there, me included (probably on the fringes as I don't like crowds).
Do you ever wish you were a journalist in LA rather than Roundup?
Jeff Small town politics - led by comments by the Sheriff - you do have a right to comment. But you also are on notice to do it peacefully and respectfully. No profanity and no violence.
Yessir.
And most everyone did obey themselves. Even the mayor showed up. Lots of misinformation dispelled.
Burn baby burn... says no one in Fire Country. Do you remember high school bonfires? Y'know... damp autumn, snow in the forecast? Our HS was built on a swamp.
