Welcome to my blog: I intend to share heartfelt writing about anything that comes to mind. |
![]() prompt Proverbs 11:1-6 1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; 2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; 3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; 4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. 5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: 6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. The first few verses state the purpose of the Proverbs. Write out your thoughts about these stated purposes. Let me see. 1. To know wisdom and instruction. 2. To perceive words of understanding. 3. To receive the instruction of wisdom. 4. To receive the instruction of justice. 5. To receive the instruction of judgement. 6. To receive the instruction of equity. 7. To give subtility to the simple. 8. To give young men knowledge. 9. To give young men discretion. 10. To understand proverbs. 11. To understand the interpretation of proverbs. 12. To understand the words and dark sayings of the wise. It is almost like Solomon is giving a run down of what you will learn in this book, like a teacher at the beginning of a lesson. I could almost picture a book outline being created from this. I find it interesting. You could really get in depth with it by studying each individual word, but I don't really have time for that right now. However, I think I want to keep these purposes in mind as I read through Proverbs again. |
![]() March 14th prompt What has God done for you or in your life lately? Write a testimony of God's goodness in your life recently. My ID came to the right address in spite of having the wrong apartment number on it accidentally. I thank God he was watching over me. March 15th prompt Do you believe you have any spiritual gifts? If so, write about them. If not, why do you think that is? I believe I have the gift of edification. I also have experienced a few others at times. I believe nothing is impossible with God. Therefore, with the Holy Spirit as a partner, Iam able to do anything the Holy Spirit enables me to do. I do believe in Spiritual gifts. 1 Corinthians chapter 12 lays it all out, and did you notice chapter 13, the "love" chapter directly follows the chapter about spiritual gifts. Let all things be done with love. March 16th prompt How do you think we can go about eating for God's glory? Is it possible? This is a huge struggle for me right now. Prayers are appreciated as I fight this physical and spiritual battle with food. If you have any thoughts on the subject, I'd love to hear them. I know that overeating/ gluttony is a sin. I need to find the proper boundaries for myself spiritually and physically in this area. I will be journaling more about this struggle in other areas of my port as well. March 17th prompt: Write your thoughts about St. Patrick's Day and about Saint's feast days in general. Ok, this can be a touchy subject for some. I know in Catholicism Sainthood is believed in and practiced. As a Baptist, I do not believe in praying to the dead. I believe in praying to Jesus, but he was raised again on the 3rd day and is alive sitting at the right hand of the Father in heaven. Therefore, I do not pray to Mary the mother of Jesus either. Now I like to have fun as well as anyone, but we must be careful what we are worshiping and who and what we are praying to. Jesus died on the cross so we could have communication directly with the Father. As the ultimate authority, why not go directly to him? A Catholic friend of mine once explained to me like this. She prayed to Mary because it was like when children at first don't get their way with their father, they go to their mother to try to get their Father talked into it. Hmm! Doesn't that sound like childish manipulation tactics? Can we not respect the no of our Father who knows all and controls all? That's just something to think about. Why pray to the lesser authority just because you are not getting your way with the higher authority? Am I the only one that sees an issue with that? Of course, that is just my personal opinion. March 18th prompt Write about how you deal with storms in your life both literally and figuratively. Obviously, prayer is a huge part of my life. Praising God is also something I do even when I don't feel like it or the circumstances seem impossible. When real storms come and I begin to feel afraid, I like to sing, "Master of the wind", to remind myself God is in control. Here are the lyrics. My boat of life Sails on a troubled sea Whenever there's a wind in my sail But I have a friend Who watches over me When the breeze turns into a gale I know the master of the wind I know the maker of the rain He can calm the storm And make the sun shine again I know the master of the wind Sometimes I soar like an Eagle to the sky Among the peaks my soul can be found But an unexpected storm May drive me from the highs It may bring me low But it can not bring me down I know the master of the wind I know the maker of the rain He can calm the storm And make the sun shine again I know the master of the wind He can calm the storm make the sun shine again I know the Master of the wind Let Jesus calm your storm make the sun shine again He is the Master of the wind March 19th prompt Either by consequence or example, sin affects other people too. How have you justified little sins in your life? What is the correct way to deal with them? I usually justify those little sin with little white lies to myself and others. That doesn't make it right, but none of us are perfect. I am not completely without sin. I could not cast the first stone. The way to deal with any sin is immediately with confession. repentance, and Godly sorrow. When we resist the Devil, he will flee from us. We must keep resisting and repenting. |
![]() March 9th prompt Do you think God cares about minor details? Why or why not? I do believe God cares about every detail because the Bible says even the hairs of our head are numbered. He knows when even a sparrow falls from a tree. Look at all of creation down to the smallest molecule and atom and cell. There is a lot of detail in even the smallest creation. March 10th prompt What does the symbol of the cross mean to you? It is only a religious symbol. However, it is a symbol that represents the death of our Savior. It could be a symbol of our new life in Christ too. I prefer to consider it the later. March 11th Prompt Do you have a go to scripture(a) when you are feeling discouraged? Write about how you handle discouragement. Ps. 42:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. I not only remind myself of the scriptures, but I begin to praise God and focus on the goodness and Sovereignty of God and what Jesus has done for me. I worship him for who he is. It is difficult to stay depressed or discouraged for very long when your focus is turned upon God. I was struggling a bit this last week, but after continually shifting my focus and allowing myself to cry some tears to him, I am feeling much better today. March 12th prompt Do you have an opinion about what kind of music should be played and sung in Church? This is a difficult one for some people. I went to private schools growing up. One taught that music with an off beat was of the devil. I went to another school where in Bible class they were playing some secular songs backwards to prove how evil they were. Recently, I have heard it said that some of the contemporary Christian music is occultic and demonic. I mention all of the above because there are a lot of different opinions about music. It goes back to my primary belief that it matters what is in the heart and not the outward appearance. I do prefer some of the older hymns personally and some of the classic praise and worship music as apposed to some of the newer. I sometimes feel like the church worship service is lacking something. I don't always know what. I have discovered recently that I enjoy the Sovereign Grace music. |
![]() prompt In your own words, describe what you think a peacemaker is. I almost feel like I am cheating on this one. I have been working on writing the next Bible study. It is on Matthew 5:9. Blessed are the peacemakers. I have found some interesting information on the topic. Anyway, in my own words, a peacemaker is one who pursues peace. They try to make peace with God, themselves, others and between other people. Christ is the ultimate peacemaker as he is the Prince of Peace. |
![]() Prompt We often hear people refer to "true" Christians. What is a "true" Christian to you? I do think that there are people who claim to be Christian when they are not actually born again. Even Jesus said that not everyone who called unto him, "Lord! Lord!", would enter into the kingdom of heaven. It isn't putting emphasis on works or the outward appearance but the condition of the heart inwardly. Your actions will follow what you truly believe. If you truly believe the gospel of the Bible, your actions will reflect it. ![]() Today we cruised to the center of the galaxy with Wile E. Coyote and picked up a cargo of Acme products. Wile told us he has been chasing some pesky bird for decades. Every time he gets close, the bird hits its afterburners and leaves Wile E. in the dust! He thinks this new cargo of Acme products will do the job.
What do you think? We all have good and bad days. Unfortunately, we need rain to make the flowers grow. ![]() Prompt: “I am not cruel, just truthful — The eye of a little god, four cornered” says Sylvia Plath in her poem Mirror. What do you think about mirrors in general and, according to you, what do mirrors mirror? Mirrors only show a reflection. When I see myself in the mirror, I am not seeing my real self. I am seeing an image of myself. In a way, We as humans reflect the image of God. Man was made in God's image. This is also how I believe the Bible works when we read it. It acts as a mirror reflecting the condition of our own soul. Yes, it tells us about God and ancient stories of old too. I have learned a lot about myself by reading the Bible. ![]() Day 3406: March 7, 2022 Prompt: Health: An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Old Home Remedy. There are some home remedies that are back by science and some that are not. Have you ever tried a home remedy? How did it work?. I might have tried one or 2. My favorite is a hot Tottie. When I was in my twenties, I worked in a call center taking inbound calls for AOL. I had a cold and had lost my voice. I had heard that if you drank some Peppermint Snaub's, it would help you get your voice back. It was all good until I tried to stand up. lol Needless to say I ended up calling off work. |
![]() prompt Let's talk about anger. Is it a sin to be angry? How do we handle anger when it rises within us? How do we handle it when others are angry? I don't believe it is a sin to be angry. I believe it is a sin to hold onto it. Sometimes it is best to take a deep breath or 2 and think before we react. Prayer is always a good option. A soft answer turns away wrath but grevious words stir up anger. When others are angry, let them vent if it is safe to do so. Speak calmly. Don't threaten or react in anger. The person who is angry is not in control. They do good to control themself little alone anything else. ![]() Prompt: I was cruising the galaxy with Tweety Bird and we did see a Putty Cat! We found this planet: (128) Read this item:
Write about this in your Blog entry today. Tell Tweety I said Hi. I am a huge fan. lol It sounds like a description of the bottom of the ocean in a fairy tale. ![]() Write about something you enjoy doing on a weekend. I enjoy the moments to rest and reflect on the weekends. ![]() It's Music time: Pick a song from the 40's, feel free to share a YouTube link. Why do you think the song you chose was popular then? Could you see yourself dancing to the song? Have fun there's a lot of great artists from that decade. White Christmas - Bing Crosby This is probably the song in that era that I am familiar with because my parents liked it. https://youtu.be/w9QLn7gM-hY |
![]() prompt Is it a sin for a Christian to worry? I think this is an area we all struggle with from time to time. I know I do. Worry can definitely be a sign of lack of faith. A lack of faith is sin. However, God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. Thankfully, we have a God who understands. We can cast all our worries, cares, and anxieties upon him because he cares for us. We are not to be anxious or afraid. However, when we do feel those feelings, we are to stand on God's promises and trust him to do what he promised. Our life is in his hands. Paul said for him to live was Christ and to die was gain. What do we truly have to worry about or fear? Unfortunately, it is within our human nature to do so at times. |
![]() February 22nd prompt Psalms 20:6-7 6 Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. 7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. What does this mean to you? Trusting in God is the only sure thing. February 23rd prompt Write about any scripture pertaining to holiness. 1 Peter 1:16 - Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. This is the first verse that comes to mind followed by Hebrews 12:10-14 10For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 12Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. 14Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: This second verse was right in the back of my mind somewhere. I had to look it up. However, it tells us God does not punish us just for his benefit but for ours. That's something to think about. February 24th prompt What scripture comes to mind when you feel misunderstood? Could being misunderstood be a form of suffering persecution? Maybe sometimes. Jesus was misunderstood. So was Joseph and a few other Biblical characters. The main biblical story that comes to my mind is when Hannah was asking God for a son and the priest thought she was drunk. February 25th prompt How should a Christian handle disappointment? A Christian should handle disappointment by trusting in God's sovereignty and knowing that all things work together for good. We can also rest in the fact that God has a good plan for us and always has our best interest at heart. February 26th Prompt What can we learn from the story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17? There are many lessons we can learn from this. God will fight our battles. God always wins. When we have the Holy Spirit, anything is possible. When the Holy Spirit is not with us, we are doubtful and full of fear. We can remember past victories in the Lord to help us have faith in the present. I am sure there are more but that's all I can think of at the moment. February 28th ??? I have too many irons in the fire and need to re-find my balance. Sorry I missed this prompt. March 1st (Has anyone seen my brain? lol I seem to have misplaced it.) On a more serious note: I think I am having an autoimmune flare up. I do apologize. I could have sworn that I sent out a blog prompt last night for today. I have no idea what happened to it, but I obviously didn't get it sent. Wow! I feel like I am so out of it. Brain fog is no fun! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prompt Do you believe there is only one way to get into heaven or many ways? Jesus is the only way. Anything that comes from another way, is a thief and a liar. Jesus himself said so. March 2nd prompt Write about your thoughts on Biblical blessings and curses. You are either living a blessed life in Christ or you are already cursed and condemned according to John 3:16 among other scriptures. Today is the day a very good friend of mine passed away due to COVID. This one really hurts. If I ever got caloused and careless about death, I think there would be something wrong with me. However, ever since September of 2017, I have experienced a lot of it, especially in the last couple years during the pandemic. It is so heartbreaking. Yet I cling to the hope I have found in Christ. I hope that I will see loved ones again in Heaven. I hope because someday all my teas will be wiped away. All pain and suffering will end for those of us whose faith is in Christ. We just have to endure until our life ends. I hope because my loved ones in Christ don't have to hurt or sorrow or cry any more. It is so much more difficult when someone dies without Christ. March 3rd prompt How can a Christian handle fear? A Christian should handle fear by running straight to Christ. Fear shows a lack of faith when we cling to our fears. God does not want us to be afraid but to trust in him. |
I feel so drained right now. I am hoping to catch up on blog prompts this weekend. I found out a good friend of mine passed away today. I am having an autoimmune flare up. I am feeling stressed. It is the 1st part of the month and bill paying time. I have a colonoscopy Friday. My neighbors are blaring music and I have a headache. I have got to go on clear liquids starting tomorrow. Sorry I needed to vent a little. I just have a lot on my plate right now. I don't feel like I can handle my business with Tupperware and Pampered chef until next week, so I have let myself off the hook for now. I needed a breather, so I am taking one. I don't like to be like that about my businesses, but I feel like I bit off more than I could chew this week. Pray for me. I need it. |
