What does it mean to believe without seeing? Answer: Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It means we take God at his word. We trust him completely to accomplish what he has promised us even though it hasn't happened yet.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scripture writing - Galatians 6:7-10 Scripture: 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Observations: Verse 7- Man reaps what ever he sows. God is not fooled. Verse 8- Every thing that is done to satisfy the flesh, will reap corruption. Everything done to the Glory of God leads to everlasting life. Verse 9- we will always receive our rewards for good behavior just as we will receive them for bad behavior. We just have to be patient and trust God. Verse 10- we should do good works every chance we get. Application: Rather we do good or bad works, we will receive a reward for them. Prayer: Dear God, Help me to always do what is right. Forgive me of my sins, and help me to change what needs changing. Help me to always think before I act especially when I am angry. This is talking about the 1,000 year reign of Christ at the end of days. Explain the first resurrection and the second death. Answer: I found an internet link to an article that explains this even better than I can. https://www.gotquestions.org/resurrection-first-second.html Revelation 21:6-8 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. This passage explains the second death. Personally, I get a little confused when it comes to the 1000 year reign of Christ. I do believe it is interesting to hear different views on “end-time” prophecy.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scripture writing - Galatians 6:1-6 Scripture: 1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. 3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. 4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For every man shall bear his own burden. 6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Observations: Verse 1- If we see someone is struggling with a sin, we should lovingly let them know what we have observed in the spirit of meekness (humbleness). However, we should be careful that we are not drawn away into sin with them. Verse 2- By baring one another’s burdens, we are following Christ's example. Verse 3- A man only deceives himself if he thinks himself to be more than he is. Verse 4- I think this verse is saying that actions speak louder than words. Prove your worth through your actions. You can rejoice when you know you have done a good job and someone else didn't have to do it. We feel good about ourselves when we know we have done well. Verse 5- Every person has their own burden to bear and their own set of responsibilities. Verse 6- I believe this is saying that we should listen to the Holy Spirit when being taught the Word of God. John 14:26 - But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Application: We should communicate with others humbly when we observe them committing a sin, but be careful that we don't get drawn into sin too. We follow Christ’s example and live out his law of love when we bear each other’s burdens. Every person should prove themselves by their actions instead of just boasting with their mouth. When they have done well, they will feel good about themselves. Everyone has a burden and responsibility of their own. Always consult the Holy Spirit when someone is teaching you God's Word because the Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth and is able to prevent you from being misinformed. Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for giving us your Holy Spirit as a constant companion who will teach us the truth and shine a light on any lies. Help us to follow your example of love and always be ready and willing to help others. Help us to be bold enough to tell others when we observe sin or something not quite right, but help us to be humble and gentle instead of harsh, judgemental, and prideful. Let me always remember actions speak louder than words. Help me to always listen to the spirit of truth. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scripture: 13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. Observations: Verse 13- We are no longer bound by the law of Moses. Therefore, we are under the law of liberty and freedom in Christ. However, we need to use our freedom to love and put others before ourselves. We should not use our freedom in Christ as an excuse to commit sin. Verse 14- Basically all the laws of Moses can be summed up as love others as you love yourself. (This also means we should love ourselves like we love others.) Verse 15- Obviously, when we are at war with one another and fighting, then someone is likely to get hurt. Application: Even Christ said the first commandment was to love God with all your heart and the second was to love your neighbor as yourself. Keep these 2 things in mind, and all the commandments and laws of God are based on these 2 principles. We don't want to use our freedom in Christ as an excuse to sin. We are to use the freedom God gives us to love others with the Love of God like he has loved us. Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the freedom I have in you. Help me to never misuse any of the precious gifts you give. Help me to love others the way you love them and me too. Give me the wisdom to put others before myself. The week of March 15th, we will start studying the Armor of God. This last week contained helpful links and suggestions to help you draw closer to God. Come take a look if you haven't already! What does it mean to watch and be ready? What are we watching for? Answer: We are to watch and be ready for the second coming of Christ. We never know what time he will return. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scripture writing - Psalm 91:14-16 Scripture: 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. Observations: Verse 14- God delivers those that love him. He sets them on high places. Verse 15- God answers their prayers and will be with them and honour them. He will deliver them from trouble. Verse 16- God will show them his salvaiand satisfy them with long life. Application: Love God. He will deliver you out of all trouble. He will satisfy and honour you. He will give you long life and bless you with Salvation. He will answer all your prayers. Prayer: Dear God, I love you. Thank you for all your blessings and promises.  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Up Your Cross Prompt: Psalm 119:1-2 1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. 2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. How can we be undefiled in the way and seek God with our whole heart? Answer: What does it mean to be undefiled? Free from stain, blemish, evil or corruption; immaculate; uncorrupted. We can be undefiled by following and obeying the law of God. We keep God's Word close to us. We are made righteous (undefiled) through faith in the righteousness of Christ. Romans 3:19-28 19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. There are several verses that tell us to seek God. Here are a couple of my favorite ones. Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Deuteronomy 4:29 29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. Deuteronomy 6:5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. With these other verses also in mind, seeking the Lord with all your heart is seeking him with your deepest passion and sincerity. We are to seek him first and foremost above anything else. We should pursue God with everything in us and all our being.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scripture writing - Psalm 91:9-13 Scripture: 9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Observations: Verse 9- Because you have made God your dwelling place, (He is a refuge. We make him our dwelling place by keeping our focus on him. We live according to his will and seek his presence always.) Verse 10- We have God's protection from any evil thing. No plague or sickness will come upon us while we are in God's presence. Verse 11- God commands his angels to protect us no matter what. Verse 12- They will protect us even in small matters of stubbing our toes. Verse 13- we can face and conquer larger enemies such as the dangers wild animals might present because his angels have been told to protect and to help us. Application: When we stay focused on God and continually seek his presence, we have God's protection. In God's will and presence is the safest place to be. He will command his angels (plural as in more than one) to protect and help us in all of our ways. Prayer: Dear God, Help me to seek your presence and your will always. Give me confidence that I can face any obstacle life throws at me with your help and the help that you send through your angels. Thank you for your protection. Deliver me from evil. Deodorant ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make-Up Scripture writing - James 1:13-18 Scripture: 13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. 16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. Observations: Verse 13- No man is ever tempted with evil by God. Verse 14- Man is tempted by the devil when he is enticed by his own fleshly lusts and desires. Verse 15- Lust is conceived and brings forth sin when temptation is yielded to. When sin happens, it works death within us. Verse 16- The note in my study Bible says that man is prone to error and must be constantly warned against it. Verse 17- Every good gift comes from God. He does not discriminate. Verse 18- God brings us into being by his will and word of truth. (We are born again by the truth of his word and his will.) He wants us to be the best and first of all his creatures. Application: God does not tempt man with evil. Every man is tempted by the devil and the lust and desires of his flesh. Lust causes us to yield to sin, and sin’s final result is death. We need to be constantly reminded not to yield to our fleshly lusts and sin. Every good gift we receive comes from God. He gets all the glory. We are born again through God's will and the truth of his Word. He wants us to be the best of all his creatures. Prayer: Dear God, Help me to resist temptations. Reveal to me the lust that is in my flesh so I can deal with it appropriately. Thank you for all the good things that you have given me. Let me never give credit belonging to you to anyone else. Thank you for always wanting what is best for me. In Jesus's name, Amen Jesus is my permanent anchor! |

I know not everything is going the way you want it to. You are frustrated with yourself. Everything will eventually work out. Just keep trying. I am not sure how we are going to get you to log your intake. I know it is hard. It isn't enjoyable. It takes extra time and effort. It isn’t easy or convenient to measure everything out precisely. I know this is a big reason you don't want to record your intake. Maybe you can find a better way to do it. There has got to be a way that will work for you. We just have to find it. Don't be to hard on yourself. You are having legitimate health issues that make every day life a huge challenge. The last thing you need right now is to give in to depression. God has got this. Continue to count your blessings. There is a time and purpose to everything. Everything works together for good for you because you are called according to God's purpose. Your only and complete help is from him alone. Praise him and trust him in everything. Sincerely, Marvelous Friend ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take UpYour Cross Prompt: Isaiah 30:18 And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. Why is the Lord waiting and why do we have to wait for him while he is waiting? Answer: Long-suffering is one way to describe the Lord. He is willing to wait until the time is just right and we should be willing to wait until then too. In this verse, he is waiting so he can give grace and mercy to whom he chooses. This brings him glory. It allows him to be the ultimate judge. So when you see someone constantly being bad, making foolish life choices, and hating the laws and ways of God, praise him for his mercy. God is giving them time to repent because he loves them too. He isn't ignoring it. On the other hand, if they still refuse to repent and change their evil ways, they are heaping upon themselves the wrath of Almighty God, and it shouldn't be taken lightly. This is why the Psalmest says the following in chapter 50, verses 21 and 22. Psalm 50:21-22 21 These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. 22 Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scripture writing - Psalm 91:5-8 Scripture: 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Observations: Verse 5- We don't have to be afraid of terrors in the night or weapons during the day. Verse 6- we don't have to be afraid of pesky unseen threats like viruses, nor do we have to be afraid of terrorism or unexpected calamities. Verse 7- People may be dropping dead all around you, but God will deliver you. Give him praise! Verse 8- You will be able to see with your own eyes what happens to the wicked. Application: God is in control, and he will protect me. Nothing catches God by surprise. He will let me see him reward the wicked for their evil works against me. Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I give you praise! I can trust you at all times. You always have my back. Nothing can take you unaware. You will allow me to see you take your wrath out on my enemies, but you are full of mercy. I love to see your grace and mercy more than I do your wrath. Teach us to only fear you. God's discipline and laws ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make-Up Scripture writing - James 1:9-12 For March 4th, 2021 Scriptue: 9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: 10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. 11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. 12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Observations: Verse 9- The brother of low degree is a brother of lower status. If someone else exalts him, he has reason to rejoice. Verse 10- However, if a rich man is brought low, he doesn't have his riches to take security in. He has to rely on God. As the grass dies, so will the rich man. All his riches can not save his soul or his body from eventual death. Verse 11- This is an explanation of verse 10. Verse 12- We are blessed when we don't yield to temptation. God gives us the crown of life. Application: God gives us the crown of life and blesses us when we refuse to yield to temptation. We should never rely on riches. All the riches of the world can not save our soul or our body from death. Prayer: Dear Father, Thank you for your promises and your Word that we can trust in. Help us to endure temptation so we can receive the crown of life and be blessed. May we never rely on the riches of this world, but put all of our hope and trust in you. In Jesus's Holy name, Amen |

How do we keep judgment and do justice and keep from polluting the Sabbath day? Answer: I believe this is saying to make good choices. Do what is right always. The way to do this is to make Christ your focus. We keep the Sabbath by setting it aside for rest and worshipping God.

Observations Verse 1- If dwell wrapped up in God, then we have his protection always. Verse 2- I will trust God for my protection. Verse3- He will deliver you from any small traps set for you or from any pestilence. verse 4- He watches over me like a hen watches her chicks and I am sheilded in his truth. Application If I stay focused on God, He will keep me safe. Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to keep my focus on you and stay dwelling in your presence. Let me know your truth as a shield. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Observations: Verse 2- When you are tempted, be joyful. Verse 3- When your faith is tried, it causes you to increase patience. Verse 4- As patience is developed in you, you will become whole and not lack any good thing. Verse 5- If you lack wisdom how to face any trial, ask God what to do. He will give you the wisdom to know how to handle it. Verse 6- when you ask anything of God, you need to have unwavering faith, knowing he here's you and will answer your prayers. Verse 7- If your faith wavers, you will not receive what you ask for. Verse 8- If you are not focused on God, you will not be stable. Application: Stay focused on trusting God. We can be joyful when we are tempted or have our faith tried, knowing it is for our good and we will come out better for it in the end. We can trust God to give us wisdom on how to handle any situation if we just ask him for it. Wavering faith shows lack of complete trust. Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for the confidence you provide in faith. Thank you for working in us to make us better even if it hurts a little. Help me to stay focused on trusting you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Up Your Cross Prompt: Revelation 22:12-14 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Explain these verses. Answer: The Bible says, Christ’s coming will be like a thief in the night. He comes back quickly when we least expect it. Another thing I noticed about verse 12, is that he not only comes back quickly, but he comes prepared to give every man according to his works. Verse 13 simply says he is the beginning and the ending and everything in between. When he returns, we are going to be very blessed if he finds us obeying his Commandments and doing what we are supposed to be doing. Our forefather, Adam, ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and brought death upon the whole human race. When Jesus leads us to the tree of life to eat of it, we will then live forever. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scripture writing - Romans 15:1-6 Scripture: 1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. 3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. 4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. 5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: 6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Observations: Verse1- The ones that are stronger in the faith should help the ones who are weaker. We are to put others before ourselves. Verse 2- First of all, it is important to understand what edification is. After looking it up on Google, I got this definition. Edification is the act of edifying, or the state of being edified; a building up, especially in a moral, emotional, or spiritual sense; moral, intellectual, or spiritual improvement; through encouragement and instruction. Basically, this verse is saying that we should lift each other up and encourage one another. Verse 3- we should edify each other and put others first because that is the example Christ set for us. Verse 4- The scriptures were written so that we might have education, patience, comfort, and hope. Verse 5- After looking up the definition of consolation, here is what I found on yourdictionary.com. The definition of consolation refers to comfort that is given to someone in a time of disappointment, or to the people or things that are providing that comfort. I find it interesting that this refers to God as the God of patience and consolation. I can't help but see this a picture of a very loving and compassionate God. I notice that he is the one that makes us like-minded one toward another in Jesus Christ. Verse 6- God the Father makes us like-minded in Christ so that we can glorify him in one mind and one voice. Application: Wow! These verses are loaded! When just reading over them at first glance, I did not expect to get what I got out of them by taking a closer, more in-depth look. God wants us to put others needs before our own. He wants us to live as a sacrifice for others just as Christ lived as a sacrifice for us. He wants the strong to help the weak. The scriptures were given to us for our good, and not to just condemn us all. When we are like-minded, we are able to glorify and praise God as a whole with one mind and one voice. It is God who causes us to be like-minded one toward another so we can glorify him together. God comforts and consoles and is patient with his people. Prayer: Dear God in Heaven, I give praise and glory to your name. You are so good and loving towards us. Help me to put others first before myself. I trust you to care for me. Help me to live out the example that Christ has set before me. Bible study helps ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make-up Scripture writing - Joshua 1:5-9 For March 2, 2021 Scripture: 5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Observations: Verse 5- God's promise to Joshua is good for all of us. He is a faithful God. He will not fail or forsake us when we are doing what he has called us to do. Verse 6- God desires us to be strong in his strength and not weak. God desires us to have courage in difficult times. God will fulfill his promises. Verse 7- God is telling Joshua that the only way he will prosper is if he follows God's laws and does it without variation. Verse 8- Joshua will have prosperity and success when he makes God's law his focus day and night. He should always be thinking about it and speaking it continually. Verse 9- In this verse, God tells him again to be strong and courageous. It is a command from God. He tells him to not be afraid or dismayed (To cause to lose enthusiasm or resolution; disillusion or discourag; A feeling of discouragement or consternation, as at the prospect of trouble.), because God is going to be with him wherever he goes. Application: God is faithful to keep his promises. We can trust him 100%. We do not have to be dismayed or discouraged, because God will bring to pass everything he has promised. We can be courageous and strong and bold because he is with us always everywhere we go. He never leaves us or for sale a us. We can have confidence to perform his will in our lives. We will experience prosperity and success when we live, breathe, and think constantly on the Word and laws of God. Prayer: Dear God in Heaven, Hallowed be your name! You are so precious to us, a constant and consistent companion and friend. You are our Holy Father and bless those who do your will. Thank you for all your precious promises that we can rely on. We can have confidence to increase our faith in you. You are so good. In Jesus’ name, Amen |
A new Bible study was posted here today. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Up Your Cross Prompt: Psalm 1:1-3 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. This scripture is loaded with information. It tells us what we should not do and what we should do and that we will be blessed for following these instructions. How can these verses apply to our lives? Answer: Walking not in the council of the ungodly means to not follow their advice to sin. To not stand in the way of sinners means to not spend a bunch of quality time with them doing the things they are doing. To not sit in the seat of the scornful means to not sit around mocking and passing harsh judgement on and criticizing other people. The godly delight to read and study God's law. They will think about it all the time. Because they delight in God's law and do not spend a majority of their time associated with the ungodly, they are blessed. Whatever they do will prosper and they will be like a well-watered garden.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scripture writing - Ephesians 4:29-32 Scripture 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Observations Verse 29- Let your speech be only good at all times so those that hear it will be blessed. Verse 30- The Holy Spirit is our seal for Salvation. We don't want to grieve him. Verse 31- Don’t hold on to negative emotions. Get rid of them quickly. Verse 32- Be towards others as Christ is towards you. Application Love others as Christ loves you. Don't grieve the Holy Spirit. Don't hang on to negative emotions. Speak only things that are good for others to hear. Prayer Dear God, Help me to love others the way you love me. Keep the door of my mouth. Teach me to only speak what is right. Teach me to forgive quickly and to never hang on to anger or other negative emotions. Help me to never grieve your spirit. Thank you for your salvation. Observations Verse 12 - God is giving his people a chance to repent of their sins and to change their attitude and behavior. He wants complete repentance. He wants them to truly be sorry for their sins against him. He wants them to show that sorrow by weeping and mourning for offending him and by afflicting the body in fasting. (to show true grief because of their sins against him) Verse 13- Let your sin break your heart and return to serving God. God is very merciful and gracious. He is slow to anger (long suffering) and very kind. He may change his mind about the evil he has planned toward you in his anger. Verse 14- Who knows? He may even bless you instead. Application When we realized we have sinned against God, we should immediately enter into an attitude of grieving repentance. God wants us to be truly sorry and heartbroken over our sin just as it also breaks his heart when we sin. Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to be truly sorry for my sins against you. Let me realize how much they hurt you. Teach me to grieve over my sin the way you want me to. Show me your great mercy and kindness. Forgive me where I have failed you. I love you, God. Observations: Verse 22- When we are born again, our conversation, behavior, and thought process change. The new person we become in Christ is no longer corrupted by deceitful lusts. Verse 23- Let the way you think be changed. Verse 24- We begin to act like, talk like, think like, and look like Christ because God recreates us in righteousness and true holiness. Verse 25- Speak truthfully because we are all the one body of Christ. Verse 26- It is ok to be angry, but don't be controlled by emotion. Being controlled by emotion only leads to sin. Don't dwell on or hang onto anger. Let it go quickly while it is still today. Verse 27- Don't give any opportunity to the devil. Verse 28- Work to make an honest income without stealing, and give to others in need. Application: When we are born again, God recreates us in righteousness and holiness. The way we think, act and speak changes. We tell the truth. We don't steal. We work to earn our money honestly. We give to others when they are in need. We control our emotions, and our emotions don't control us. We avoid giving any opportunity to the devil. Prayer: Dear God in Heaven, Thank you for remaking me into a new person, an upgraded and improved version of my former self. Continue to remold and reshape me in your righteousness and holiness. I know you are not done with me yet. Help me to stay in control of my emotions and let good the negative ones quickly. Help me to live a life that sets a good example to others, and help me to know when I am about to give opportunity to the devil so that it can be avoided. Renew the thought process in my mind.
