The simplicity of my day to day. |
This is where I write my thoughts, feelings and my daily trials, tribulations and happy things
|
A lazy Sunday, reading the paper, a little editing but not much else. My husband and I had a ride to the lake and had coffee. There was the local Bengali group having a picnic. I mentioned the wonderful aroma of their BBQ so different from the Aussie steak. They invited us to share it with them, how lovely. |
It’s a winning day today, 10,000 points, a merit badge and an awardicon for second place in Show don’t tell contest! |
Today is Friday, the day when my creative writing group meets. There are ten of us in the group, each reads something they have written that week. A few have expressed interest in exploring WDC as I bore them constantly singing its praises. I took along an article written by Max Griffin called Just one point of view, as it is a subject we discuss often. I received a review this morning of an old story of mine called Brooklyn Bridge which I also took along to the class to demonstrate what an in depth review looks like. I certainly didn’t take it to show off as the review wasn’t glowing by any means but within it were some great insights for improvement and I cherish them. I thanked Dave for taking so much time and effort. I have written my first part of the campfire story with Toucan and wish on reflection there was an edit button where I could rectify a few things. Maybe we get a chance to edit before we enter it as a finished product, I hope so. The weather is till warm and lovely, hot weekend expected. Maybe we’ll get rain next week. |
Had a great day today, met up with an old friend for lunch. We put the world to rights again. Added a couple of jokes to my Not too rude Joke page and entered into Daily flash fiction. It’s 11pm gotta go to bed 💤 |
How are you feeling today? Why not take my poll "Invalid Item" ![]() I’m feeling pretty good, it’s nearly dinner time and I can have my glass of wine. Had a productive day, walked Lucy my Weimaraner, did an hour of deep water aerobics and assisted my granddaughter with her English assignment. I’m watching a programme on TV about the march of the Queensland Cane toad, it has successfully travelled thousands of miles across the top of Australia and is now on the march down the West coast. It has no natural predators and is killing off the native animals in their millions. So sad! If you feel like a different sort of vacation you could join the Toad Busters in Kununurra Western Australia, a group of environmentalists who go out at night and catch the little sods. Having originated in England I keep an interest in the goings on there. I’m so sorry for my country of birth at the moment, what a mess they have got themselves into with this Brexit fiasco. So pleased we moved to Australia in 1972, the best place in the world. Cheers Sue |
Entered ACRO*BATICS today. That’s a great little contest to get your mind working. I actually won last months and received 11000 Gift Points ! So check it out and have a go. |
I love Tuesdays, it’s ‘Sing your Heart out day’ We have a wonderful group of like minded folk who get together with our wonderful leader Jo (Auntie to Tim Minchin} We sing all sorts of songs, from Aboriginal to Gospel and songs in different languages. We don’t know what we’re singing about much of the time but the music is wonderful. There are about twenty women and ten men and we sound great, well we think so! It was my turn to take the afternoon tea today, fruit cake and tuna slice. I think sometimes that’s what the guys go for. Another gorgeous day, temperature 32 degrees. |
Today in WA it’s a special day for people who have suffered the loss of a child through stillbirth. It’s called, “ Say their name day” Unfortunately this has special significance for our family as our daughter’s baby was a stillbirth at full term. Although it was twenty years ago the pain is still there. So I’ll say his name: Jack. |
Had a productive day today, edited my contest entry for Taboo words contest. Best of all had a wonderful visit from my Grandson Jacob. I’m always surprised when a twenty two year old wants to spend some of his precious weekend visiting his old folks but very happy. |
