Thank you for crediting reviewers on the Public Reviews page. Giving an author feedback on their writing is a time consuming thing. It's hard work and reviewers deserve acknowledgement for their effort -- recipient authors are often bad at this. Gotta find a contest! I'll look like my name was Elmer Fudd hunts for Daffy and Bugs.

I posted this note on August 19, 2024

"Note: I live in an American suburb that would be the per..."

Yesterday, the wife of a dear friend notified me that he died in August of last year.

Coincidence?

She gave me no details, no exact date, no cause of death. He had survived a heart attack a few years back and both of his parents died very young of cancer, leaving him and his brother to figure out life on their own when they were in their very early twenties.

His death hits differently because we were at one point very close to get into a serious dating relationship with the goal to spend our lives together. We had a lot in common, but he lived in Hamburg at the time for university and I was in Berlin. There are also some things in both of our personalities that would have led to us separating very quickly had we endeavored a relationship. Although we never figured out how to be a couple, we had a deep appreciation for each other. He had moved his life to Dubai while I had moved to the USA. In 2017, we achieved to be in Berlin at the same time and we met up for lunch.

I never thought that our goodbye hug was going to be our last.

He was married three times and has two sons with his second wife.

I'm sorry for your loss, Annette. Bob's probably right, but...would I believe it was a coincidence if it happened to me? Absolutely not. (insert *but that's just me personally* gif)
*Hug1**Frown**Hug2* So sorry for your loss.
I guess one has to be happy for what others bring into our lives.

However, your words evoke sadness. No date, no cause, and months later... I remember 1990 when my mother nonchalantly mentioned that her brother had died. I remember thinking "and when did you intend to tell me". This familial insouciance has been repeated many times since. *Sad*

To be blunt: when you die I want to hear about it! I'll be dead 20 years but I'll still want to know.
I know that some time zones have already moved on, but it's still

Happy New Year

where I'm at.

Do you have "Resolutions? "  Open in new Window.

Not really. Vague long term goals like writing and travel are ongoing. I do make short-term objectives at times. Yes, I should exercise and take better care of myself but "resolutions" don't work for me.

Task 11 in "12 Days Of Christmas 2024Open in new Window.
Watch This!

1 Happiest Season  Open in new Window. one of my sons made us watch this movie because he wanted to tell us something about himself.

2 The Holiday  Open in new Window. Kate Winslet bumps into my husband's chest during the Christmas dance scene. (He was an extra and had the perfect height for the scene.)

3 The Chronicles of Narnia  Open in new Window. second son and I watched it together when it was in theaters. He was so small that he sat on my lap.

4 The Polar Express (2004)  Open in new Window. the moment when Santa flies up to the giant Christmas tree and thousands of voices sing O Tannenbaum gives me goosebumps.

5 Bad Santa  Open in new Window. he's a mall Santa and he is baaaad! R rating deserved.

6 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone  Open in new Window. Harry has his first real Christmas ever.

7 A Charlie Brown Christmas  Open in new Window. is just so wholesome.

8 The Nightmare Before Christmas  Open in new Window. is whacky, fun, and iconic.

9 Die Hard  Open in new Window. no Christmas movie list is complete without it.

10 Gremlins  Open in new Window. a great reminder that pets make terrible presents.

Task #10 in "12 Days Of Christmas 2024Open in new Window.

Sum1's Home! Author Icon - I haven't watched that movie. Or at least can't remember watching it. If you think that it should be the top ten list, you have to decide which other movie has to go.
Annette Author Icon - I've never seen this one, (I've seen 7 on your list), but in my eyes, Bad Santa has to go. Why? Because Christmas is all about happiness (and finding the good in others (IMHO)), and that movie is not about that.
Sum1's Home! Author Icon - true.
