Yes, but finding it is easier. |

With Thanksgiving almost upon us here in the USA, it's time to once again turkey-trot out a verse I wrote for the occasion.

It is always in the eye of the beholder! We are in a "Holocene Age, a waning stage of an ice age.." I guess the polar bears loved 536 C.E. A few good things were happening; there was a land bridge between Europe and Africa. The Indigenous folks in what would become Florida ate palm hearts, palmetto beans, fish, and cold-stunned gators and snakes. Sea levels were a hundred feet lower than today's. We know this because caves 90 feet below the current surface of the St. John's River are filled with remnants of their lives, like Beds, cooking fires, and utensils, plus children's toys made to resemble Dolls of humans and animals. Since the world is still in the grips of this last Ice Age, and volcanos spew more gases and materials into the atmosphere every year than everything ever cumulatively manufactured by man. (There was a debunked meme that said more CO2 and SO2 in a day.) but this is incorrect. It takes a year for a single volcano to surpass human outputs of greenhouse gases. But since there are, on average, three to five volcanos erupting on any given day... it takes about four months for the earth to outdo its human-generated contaminants. So it is possible this year can be the worst ever if climate is the only concern. One should remember that more deaths occur from cold than heat, at a rate of nine to one... We will survive the coming "Inter-glacial age" far better than the next Ice Age. |
