A Journal Tragedy

Sunday, February 21, 2021 6:15 a.m.

It had to be at the end of 5:55 a.m. when a striking thought flashed into my mind. So powerful it was, I wanted to write it down so I could ponder it more, build it into an article later; but mostly so I never forget it.

I grabbed my journal, snatched up a pen, flipped to the next empty page, checked my watch, and jotted down 5:57 a.m. As the numbers were taking shape on the paper, I felt the thought rapidly diminishing.

As quick as it was to jot down the time, my thought vanished into thin air. It faded faster than I could grasp the tail-end of the idea to retrieve it. Just that suddenly, I’m afraid it’s gone forever. Yet the urgency I felt to write it down, continues to linger.

I’m left with the time written down in my journal, my hand gripping a paralyzed pen, my mind drawing a blank, and a hollowed urge to write. Surely it is a tragic loss for my journal, the kind of loss only a journal suffers.

You have all my sympathy, I am quite familiar with that sense of loss. It can be consuming.

2020 was a remarkable end to the catastrophic presidency term served by Donald J. Trump. It rang true with the old saying, "Hindsight is 2020" and a few other old sayings related to sight. Looking back on the previous presidential elections since Al Gore won the popular vote but we woke up to George W. Bush as president in 2000. We have been skeptical of the "numbers racket" ever since. 20 years later it came back to bite us in the butt and we can clearly see how it lead up to this moment where we now cannot be sure who will be president as we move through 2021 with a president who refuses to concede.
I haven't visited my fellow writers for a while. I lost my focus for a bit. I'm back now and looking forward to interacting again.

Not only can you tell a lot about others by the environments they create (in their house, room, office space, car, etc.) but you can tell a lot about yourself as well.
For example, a messy room does not necessarily mean a person is generally messy...but does indicate a messy mind.
Look around you, what do you see?
what stands out immediately?
is your room clean or messy?
Are your walls bare or filled with pictures? what kind of pictures?
Do you have curtains hanging or just blinds? What color?
does all your clothes hang facing one way? are the hang-ables hanging?
do you have a dusty collection of childhood things?
Do you have a book or movie collection?

What you see on the outside has a lot to do with what's going on inside.
For instance, hidden fears manifests in clutter; a building of barriers to hide or protect yourself.
pictures that hang high on the wall indicate an inferiority complex; too low on the wall, a superiority complex.
Look at your environment as if it belonged to someone else and attempt to describe this person by what you see.
This exercise is not only fun to do every now and then, its a reliable indicator of your state of mind.

Please feel free to let me know if you are inspired to try this and share what you discover.

I’ll have to try this
Fear generates vibrations that attract to you the very things you Fear!
Love generates vibrations that attract to you the very things you Love!

LOVE being FEARLESS!!

I got bare naked in a recent article and it has gone viral over social media. I published it on another platform and I'm not sure if I can add the link here until I do more research on the rules. but I will, if I can--when my head stops spinning.

Yesterday I enrolled in the University of Iowa's free online writing course: Hidden Meanings--Creative Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Facts. It started on November 15th so I'm not too far behind. It is an awesome opportunity to hone my writing skills goal to advance as a professional.

This particular course teaches how to identify fake news and deceptive writing, etc. Something we can all use these days. The course ends on December 29th but it is also self-paced so I can take my time with it and go beyond the end date without instructor activity. This is my 2nd course.

I want to tell my story to the world. So I am nervous about making it ‘excellent’ the first time around; because excellence is what I do…right? I strive. I am not going to let statistical odds of being a bestselling, first time author, cause me to doubt my skill and talent.

Well, consider trying to just do a 1st draft without worrying about perfection. Then you can work on it little by little to improve it until you are happy. That way, you don't fall into the trap of never starting because you fear it won't be good enough. *Smile*

Good luck with your story!

I like this. Beautiful thought.
This Universe has once again given me exactly what I asked for, which I'm convinced it always does though I hardly paid attention before. *Bigsmile*
I'm settling in here in Texas from Northeast Pennsylvania. One of the things I was really looking forward to was a much warmer winter. However, seems I NEPA moved with me-- Today was 41 degrees in Dallas and 70 degrees in NEPA!! hahaha!

And if you don't like our weather today, spend the night here...I will guarantee you it will be TOTALLY different tomorrow.
For some reason this morning the word 'JANUARY' does not look like its spelled right--even though I know it is! I'm working on my schedule for 2020. First I wrote it in longhand and thought, "wait, did I spell it wrong?" When I wrote it in 'Word' doc it was spell checked as correct but started looking, more and more, so wrong! LOL

G'day Mates!

My Alexa answered me this morning with an "argh mate!" then asked me if I wanted her to speak like a pirate today! She explained that today is national Pirates day--which I did not know. So, of course I say yes. It's gonna be interesting to hear her throughout the day today as she is my go-to for inquiries as I write!
