About 2 years ago, I met someone somewhere, and he told me a story. His story. I am not at liberty to discuss his story with anyone.

What I do want to do, is write a fiction book, that is loosely based on his story. It's a story that, I feel, should be told.. So, here's the kicker. His story has an association with the drug, methamphetamine. I know NOTHING about methamphetamine, I know nothing about what the addition is like, either from a clinical side or from a personal side of someone who has been addicted to it, recovered from addiction to it, or been touched personally by an addiction to it except for his.

SINCE it is critical to the writing of what I intend to produce, this is a HUGE problem.

The second thing that's a problem, is that I have no idea how to spread this request around the site.
If YOU DO know the things mentioned above that I don't, or have a story that will help me better understand and write this more accurately, I'm asking you to share it to me via my email here.

Research. Google will tell you all about Meth. You need to know and understand addiction. You can be addicted to almost anything. Most common is caffeine and/or nicotine. When it is a chemical addiction your body does go through changes. Then when you don't have it withdrawl starts and that road is tough and not the same for everyone. Write the story if it cries to be released, but do the homework first. I speak from experience.
When addicted everything else takes a backseat to the addiction. It rules and the person addicted has very little control over it, if any at all. Good luck and hope you are successful with the story.

If there’s a rehab facility in your vicinity, it can be a great resource. You can ask to speak with counselors for questions you have and sometimes there are even individuals going through recovery that are willing to provide firsthand knowledge. Just be practical, respectful, and come from a place of love. I’ve done this once before for a character study of my own and the facility was very gracious and accommodating to help dispel the social stigma of addiction.
