Three stents in my heart, a week on the mend, and back to work and back in my writing room.... Whew! (wiping sweat from brow) That was a close one! |
It was a total shock to us. My blood pressure was excellent, EKG showed no irregularities. I was just having a little chest pain. Primary Doctor wanted to rule out heart problems. Sent me to the enhanced Cardio unit. Cardiologist had a funny feeling; he said forget the stress test, we're taking pictures. Did an MRI right there. Showed main Artery in the front of my heart was 100% blocked ready to blow. He said he couldn't believe I was still walking around feeling as good as I did. He said, in some people it happens. Said if that Artery blew I would not have had time to pull the Air-Brakes. He took my CDL away right on the spot. Put me in the hospital the next morning for 6:00 AM surgery. Put two stents in the Main Artery and one stent in the Artery behind my heart. They think it was from to two types of Steroids my orthopedic surgeon and Podiatrist put me on. Made me nuts mentally and gave me a voracious appetite. I was eating greasy fatty junk I hadn't touched in years. My wife said I was acting strange for three months. But I feel a difference; in a good way. |
I've just edited an item in my portfolio:
