Well, it's 0-2 for the delivery of outdoor chairs I ordered. I ordered them on QVC (I thought), but they're coming from China. I had to ask about them the first time because they never sent me shipping status. This place has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Their emails to me always start with 'Dear Customer'. You know that's computer generated. Anyway, when I asked the first time, they had supposedly already been delivered. Nope, never got 'em. They shipped another set to me, I've been watching this one's status. Apparently they were delivered yesterday. Except we were here all day, those chairs weren't. Another Episode here of 'As The Rant Goes'.

That's horrible. I hope you get your chairs soon.
Didn't anyone warn you about TEMU? *Laugh*
I've been seeing a lot of ads for Hydrogen Water. Since water is H2O, I had to Google it to learn more about it.

Hydrogen water is regular water that has had molecular hydrogen gas infused into it, making it rich in dissolved Hâ‚‚ molecules. It's promoted for potential health benefits due to hydrogen's antioxidant properties, with proponents suggesting it can help reduce inflammation, improve athletic performance, and protect against aging, though more research is needed to confirm these effects. The FDA lists hydrogen gas as Generally Recognized as Safe for beverages, and serious adverse effects from hydrogen water are considered rare.

How it's made

Hydrogen gas is added to water in a few ways:

Electrolysis: An electric current splits water molecules, and the hydrogen is added back into the water. (We did this on Submarines to create Oxygen which was then stored in large cylinders outside the hull)

Hydrogen gas infusion: Pure hydrogen gas is bubbled through the water to dissolve the molecules.

Magnesium: Some products use magnesium sticks that react with water to produce hydrogen gas.

Potential benefits

The molecular hydrogen (Hâ‚‚) acts as an antioxidant, potentially neutralizing harmful free radicals and reducing oxidative stress in the body. Some potential benefits being explored in studies include:
Antioxidant effects: Protecting cells from damage caused by free radicals.

Anti-inflammatory effects: Helping to reduce inflammation and symptoms of inflammatory diseases.

Improved athletic performance: Reducing muscle fatigue and improving endurance in athletes.

Healthy aging: Potentially slowing cellular aging, as suggested by studies on telomere length.

Safety and current status

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has listed hydrogen gas as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) for use in beverages.
Serious side effects from consuming hydrogen water are rare.
While promising, the scientific evidence for many claimed benefits is still preliminary, and more robust clinical trials are needed to confirm the effects of hydrogen water.

Key considerations
Hydrogen is a very small, volatile molecule, so it's best to consume hydrogen water immediately after pouring to get the most benefit.
Boiling hydrogen water can cause the hydrogen gas to evaporate, making it essentially normal water.

Jay O'Toole Author Icon - "Sounds very reasonable," Humble Poet PNG said, in the voice of an injured mouse.
Sum1 - Birthday Time! Author Icon - Oh, I know. I use hydrogen peroxide for several things, but never as a drink mixer.

I'm minded of a chemistry class poem:

Mary was a thirsty lass.
Alas, she thirsts no more,
for what she thought was H2O
was H2SO4.
Humble Poet PNG - but am I? Author Icon - Y'know, you'd think I would forget a few things from over 30 years ago, but noooo,,, not everything is gone. YET.

H2SO4 is part of our lead-acid storage battery chemical equation on Submarines. That equation is Pb+PbO2+H2SO4 *CupidArrowL* *CupidArrowR* Pb2SO4 + H2O. (Those are the only arrows I could find here, so imagine a arrow pointing both ways.) I mean, that equation immediately popped in my head. It's been 33 years since I stood a Battery Charging Watch. On discharge the equation flows left to right, and of course right to left when being charged.

I'm a tad bit (Okay, more than a tad) upset today. We found a different van, but it's over in Latham, NY, a suburb of Albany, sorta. I was going to fly there Monday to look at it, and probably buy it. But, to do that, I needed to withdraw money from my 401K. That's something I didn't really want to do, but it's the only way we could get it. When I logged onto to the 401K site, I discovered that my bank account was not linked to that site. So I quickly linked it. Then I discovered that it will be a week before I can have money deposited there. My only option is to have the check mailed to me. I might not receive the check until Wednesday, or heaven forbid Thursday! I can't fly without that check, so I can't reserve a flight, or hotel for that matter until I have it in hand.. It will take a couple of days for them to prep the van, that can't happen until it's sold. At least we were the first to put a deposit on it, now it can't be sold until we turn it down. Do you wonder why I'm a bit perturbed today?

Brochure for the van, we will be buying the Pleasure Way Plateau, a Dodge/Mercedes model.

Gosh, Jim, I feel ya on that one. The procedure to acquire your van sounds like it just got complicated and so it sounds like a dose of patience and perservance is required. Sending you good vibes.
I'm being as patient as I can. Besides, it's out of our hands now. I can't hurry it, I did my part, it's up to them getting it to me. I will post a photo of it once I have it. The dealership understands, and is holding the van for me. It looks like I'll be driving it home. *Smile*
"Good things come to those who wait." What a truckload of bullstuff. *Laugh* Now wait... didn't I just read something of yours about the "I Want It Now" generation? *Rolling* It will happen, Jim. Knowing that should be enough, even if disappointing.

I too, remember the musical torture of Lawrence Welk. A one anna two...
Today is a very special day for me. Today, Fifty-Three years ago, I signed the dotted line (so to speak), and became a member of the US Navy.

Friendly Neighborhood Derg Author Icon - I think the most interesting thing I did, was being assigned to the Initial Manning Crew of the USS Alabama SSBN 731. I was able to experience a lot being assigned like that. Initial manning? There were maybe 35 of us total. The boat? The hull was put together at least. Other than the Engineroom and Reactor Compartment, the interior of the boat was a big cavern.

The USS Alabama is the Submarine nearest you, the USS Alaska is still in pieces.

I was the first crewman to spend the night on board the boat. I saw the Reactor Core being lowered into the Reactor Vessel. The Initial Criticality was something to experience too. But, I think to really appreciate all this, you had to be a Nuclear Trained Petty Officer. Otherwise it means little to you.

Second on the interesting list, was being stationed on the USS Sargo SSN 583. (Think of how the USS Nautilus SSN 571 looked, that was the Sargo). A Trident Submarine like the Alabama has an outside diameter of 42 feet. The interior is around 30 feet. On the other hand, the USS Sargo had an outside diameter of 27 feet, so the interior was about 20 feet. Very tight quarters! I was 'lucky' enough to spend Jan-Aug 1979 doing a WestPac (Western Pacific Deployment) on the Sargo. We weren't at sea the entire time, our longest time submerged was about 72 days. But, there was no way for us to see our families during this deployment. There was no internet, no mail when underwater. We did receive 'Family Grams', about 43 words in length was all that was allowed. At one point during the deployment, we did 'observe' Soviet ships as often as we could. I can't say where, when, or how we would see them though. To me, it was a very interesting time.
Sum1 - Birthday Time! Author Icon - It sounds very interesting! Submarines are perhaps my favorite military vehicles. I think they appeal to me because the technology needed to make them work (especially the nuclear reactor kind) is so unique compared with just sailing on top of the water or over it in plane.
I respect anymore who served. As a degreed nuclear engineer I particularly respect people who slept and worked in a tube with a PWR down the hall.
