Lizard Open in new Window. (E)

I have added a poem titled

“The Lizard”.

I watch him every day, sitting on my chair, in the balcony where I spend most of my time reading and writing. He is a regular visitor and I am always fascinated by his activities. His antics provide me a diversion from the seriousness of the daily activities.

I have added a poem titled “Cassandra’s Prophecy”.

Avian Predictions Open in new Window. (E)
This essay talks about an activity of men who use parrots for fortune telling.

I have added an Essay titled

"Avian Predictions"

I have added an essay on the topic “Avian Predictions”. The scenes depicted in the essay are those witnessed by me in my childhood. I have been witness to such activities on numerous occasions during my walk to school. People using parrots, sparrows and sometimes mynahs to predict the future of gullible persons were all too common those days. Most often, rural people flocked to such men to have their future read by these birds. It still exists in rural hamlets and patronized by illiterate village folk.

A poem on the life of Rickshaw Pullers
#2179904 by Raghav R Author IconMail Icon

I have added a poem titled
"My Memories of Rickshaw Pullers"

The poem is a recollection of what I had seen of the life of rickshaw pullers during my stay in Kolkata and Lucknow spanning a period of more than 25 years.

I often think of them even after 24 years of leaving Kolkata and Lucknow.

This poem narrates what happened when the city was placed under curfew

I have added a poem titled

“A City under Curfew”.

I have attempted to write this poem, unlike my earlier poems, with internal rhyming. This is my full-fledged attempt and I hope it is received well by the readers of WDC.
