Maybe I should write a book on everything that goes wrong in our household on a daily basis...just in the last twelve hours hubby and I have fixed the plumbing in the kitchen, our closet (I have way too many clothes), the window on the truck, and one of the stove eyes has burned out. | I have moved some of my older poems from another site to here as I close out that particular account. I knew I that most of my poems stemmed from emotional times in my life, but this was ridiculous. I really, really need to write some "happy" poems! |

Hi All!! I just discovered the site and look forward to sharing some of my work with you. However, one of the biggest reasons I am here is to find ways to inspire my children to write, read more often, and love it as much as I do. So if anyone as some tips I welcome them! As a homeschooloing Mom, making reading and writing fun is my ultimate goal.

I used to homeschool my younger brother a few years back, and I work with a library program to help make reading/writing fun for kids (for real though, check out your local library to see if they have any similar programs, because these can be amazing).
Book bingo tends to be a really good bet for kids (regardless of age, because you can always adjust it depending on the age group). It means they get to try out different things to see what they like, and in the end there is some kind of prize for it. Recipes, science experiments, model building, crafts, etc can be a wonderful way to engage a child in reading. All of these things require instructions, and it makes it easier to cater to the child's specific talents/interests.
