I very much enjoyed reading this story especially as it is about a turning point in someone's life; and clearly a turning point eventually to have great and positive impact on more than one life. Good build up of a picture of domesticity in a family slowly detailing the strictures within which they are all imprisoned and only later the actual physical abuse that Shyla experiences at the hands of her partner. Nice slice of the future also when Priya and Nobi are grown without too much memory of their violent and oppressive father. Great tribute to a human courage. This is less a piece of writing than a carefully moulded living-sculpture unfolding and revealing the facts as we are supposed to grasp them.
