I really liked it! I'm a sucker for stories about love conquering racial divides, forbidden and impossible love. This story felt really realistic in the sense it could easily be set in the here and now, within our own world. Regarding the style, the more I read in present tense/first person- the more I'm beginning to appreciate it, and you did a great job with that in this story. :) I don't really have anything else to add as I'm not a particularly skilled technical writer.
