How powerful this piece is. Above my desk in my 5th grade clssroom is a small wooden block that reads, "You are the Author of Your Own Life Story." I keep telling my children to write it down. We recently discovered that Langston Huges wrote more than one autobiography. So even if you think the story ends, you can always re-write it from a diofferent perspective. Write-on, Your Faithful Rhymer, Chickpea
I like this but not as much as "What is Poetry?" Although all the lines do not have exactly 10 syllables, this is still an awesome sonnet. The word "comment" has two "m's" I believe, but keep in mind, I spend every day of my life telling 5th graders that paragraphs need indents and periods, so I don't know much about form and structure in adult poetry. I can't sing either, but that doesn't keep me from loving music. I love poetry and this poem just makes me happy.
This is amazing. It says everything I feel about poetry. My favorite part? What can't be healed by balm is healed by verse. I wrote a lot after my brother was murdered. They never found out who murdered him but writing about it helped a lot. Poetry is often used when regular words just can't seem to portray what we are feeling. I now must read another of your poems. i want to read Poetry Addiction and see if it is as good as this one. You are amazing!
This was very sad, indeed. This sonnett had an excellent rhyme scheme and never faltered from the abcb, 7-6-7-6 format. This was very special. I have been married for 35 years and it seems like months, so I know it would be difficult to express on paper this emotion. May God bless you.
This was really a great story. Maybe it could be the first chapter of a book. I hate shopping at the mall, so I found this story intriguing. It is excellently written and contains great descriptive passages like...her knee-high stockings. I could almost picture her on her cane. I would like to read the sequel.
What an awesome poem. The vivid imagery is amazing. The snow is three feet deep outside right now yet reading your poem, I feel like simmer inside. Free Verse was an excellent choice for this piece. Alliteration in “Wind would breath….outside my window.” and “Through the trees,”
proves to be very effective in this piece, as well. My favorite part was “Now the seasons answer one into another without a question.” Also, the part … “the trees tethered to the yard.” This is one of the best poems I have read on here. Have you considered publishing this one?
