Very good poem...you did a great job in conveying your sadness and grief to the reader. I hope that, if this is a personal testimony, that things eventually got better for you. I like the line "She takes off the disguise she's been wearing, then opens her heart to the truth" because, so many people, myself included, put up a false face with friends and family...from time to time we show that everything in the world is A-ok, but behind closed doors we are miserable.
Interesting approach...I knew about halfway through (when the lights came on and "everyone scrambled for cover") that this wasn't a typical human viewpoint but I wasn't expecting a black widow. If you really wanted to go further for comedic effect, you could really easily change this to be from the viewpoint of a cockroach...now that would be interesting too.
Lemonade and Apple Pie are sure to Cheer me up! It's short, but sweet for sure; and in just a few lines you touched on so much. Good job and thanks for sharing.
When I first opened this up I wondered why you had it listed as poetry when the format on the screen was in story form....now I know! Great use of rhyme throughout. I really enjoyed it.
