I have not read the Book of James yet but your explanation is very clear, easy and sharp for me to understand. I have studied Buddhism in plain terms and I can draw many parallels of Buddha's teachings in this, the poisons of greed and ego can carry men into very destructive ways when they could have walked the path of faith. There are many buddhists who have betrayed Buddha too for their selfish desires and lost sight of a higher vision of cultivating wisdom.
Thank you very much for sharing this very insightful essay and it made my morning. I found your piece in the latest issue of Noticing Newbies newsletter and am very glad to have checked it out!
Hi Jacky! I have finished reading "Morning Person" which I came across the Read and Review page and here are my thoughts on it!
As a reader, I could feel the urgency of the character in the midst of leaving her home. The snappy tone, quick sentences and inner ramblings peppered throughout the piece helped shape the setting and very well describes how most of us feel trying to get our feet out of the door. Overall, I find it very well written from a technical perspective with a fitting ending. A suggestion that help might is including italics to some thoughts which might add more tonal variation. However, that is merely a suggestion as it is mostly down to personal preference. Good work!
What a beautiful prayer filled with joy and immense love for God! To be able to wake up every morning alive is a divine blessing and an opportunity to start afresh. God loves us so much with his divine wisdom- to give us enough so we can live well, but not too much that we lose sight of what is truly important and eternal beyond the trappings of our physical world.
It is easy for us to be disappointed when things don't work out in the way we imagine but God's vision stretches out far into the eternal future for our wellbeing even if we are temporarily blind his lessons. Life is a series of tests and tests are never designed to be easy, but those who persist with divine fath and trust will flourish in the end! Thank you for sharing this wonderful prayer with us!
A rather entrancing piece! Indeed, what is that voice? I was curious to know what the voice might be or where it was coming from, why it spoke so intimidatingly but by the end it did not matter for it has conveyed its most important points- my favourite being that your strengths often have to break down for you to work on your weaknesses. It is short, sombre but impactful.
On a more technical standpoint, the presentation and layout of your poem is beautiful and the choice of bold and italic fonts contributes to tonal variation when I was reading it. The poem concluded with a smooth little rhyme and ended in a fleeting whisper. This is one of the more skillfully crafted poems that captivated me and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
What an interesting little poem! I enjoyed the rhyming and the whimsical tone of your poem makes for a very fun read. Indeed, who's to say two plus two couldnt'e be 22! As I am no expert in poetry, unfortunately I am unable to provide a very technical viewpoint on how it can be improved. I still enjoyed it though! Good work!
