Of course anything about finally receiving an awesome pet that you have always wanted is going to have emotion. I like this I really do. I just wish that there was a little bit more emotion and depth. One thing I have always been inept at when trying to write poetry is I cannot rhyme! You've done a great job here and I believe it flows very well!
