One of the first things that I could relate to in the story was sitting under the Willow tree. I sat under many a tree when I was younger to take a break from playing or to get away from the heat of day. I could sense the same safe feeling as Fae did when reading the first few lines. I don’t think that has changed with the kids of today’s generation, I believe that kids of all ages will be able to relate to that feeling of protection under a tree to one degree or another.

The Haunts, good name choice for the spirits, and the reason why they could not or would not come in close to the tree was not given away anywhere in the story.

When Fae went down into the basement I knew something was going to happen to her or something was going to explain why she could see the Haunts. The fact that Bucky was the down in the basement and that Fae did not find her own body or something like that was unexspected.

To know why Fae could see the Haunts would not change the story as a whole, or when the Haunts started like when Bucky showed up for the first time. This may give the readers more of him being a “friendly”.

All and all the story is a good length and it flows very well. I think that the age group you are shooting for is right on the money.

Well Done! I strive to be able to write like this one day.

Thank you for sharing.
