This story showed how much technology and social communication are like the little girl who had a little curl – when it’s good, it’s very, very good. But when it’s bad...

Well done. I couldn’t stop reading this story. I particularly enjoyed how the chapters ended like mini cliff hangers especially chapter number four - “All was well. Then the lights went out.” – So simple and yet so perfect.

I also enjoyed the way the author introduced the main character ‘s disconnect with the online community “You are socially invisible,”. What a brilliant way to describe someone who doesn’t conform to the demand for social participation in the global internet village. It made him being (spoiler alert here) the last survivor out of the original small group that we were introduced to and the chronicler of the story even more ironic.

The storyline flowed well and the suspense was nicely spaced. It was a roller coaster ride with ups and downs ending with a heart wrenching yet somehow apt scene. I was reminded of the novel “On The Beach” – the author conveyed the inevitable doomsday conclusion – the reader knows it’s not going to end well for the character but she can’t stop reading because she has to find out what’s going to happen.

My only complaint with this story is that it felt a bit rushed - but with the 2012 deadline looming perhaps that's justified.
