I think the understanding of someone either comes from experience or a good psychologist. I am a psyche major and wanted to read the whole thing but I lost interest.
A good writer is able to hold the interest of the reader, by giving insight to the main characters reason for his predicament or at least hearing from the captors, before it keeps rolling into a long monologue. Overall though I think it is a great story.
I think you have a great story line. I think it will be a great read, but the layout is wrong.
I think in the beginning the reader needs to know just a bit more about Jo. Is she a timid young lady pushed into the wild west, and has a reason to be haughty, or is she the daughter of a land baron?
There has to be a reason for a reader to keep reading. Either she is a nasty child of a rich land baron, and you hope the cowboys put her in her place, or she is so miserable living in the west and dares someone to cross her,..either way I think a little insight needs to be made to captivate an audience, but overall great story.
other than the word "out" at the beginning that was repeated twice that can be eliminated the story line is actually good, and the flow is good. There was a word or two misspelled but other than that great reading great flow.
