This is a great story, very descriptive. I think it touched on every sense. I don't think there were any grammer problems. This really was a interesting take on the infamous "red apple" talked about in stories in the past.
"Locked Doors" is an excellent flash fiction ghost story. The action starts right away and keeps going until the end, where the old woman reveals the sordid past of the house. The peaks and troughs (even as instant as they have to be in flash fiction) are well timed. It's a very good story.
My favorite was the third part when, "Just then one of the birds looked at her..." It was a good story, but I do think the grammar was slightly off. I think the word where was used instead of were a few times. Besides that, I really liked the story. It was like Poe's "The Raven" meets the movie Deep Blue Sea.
