Review of Cinderella Red  Open in new Window.

Hi MatildaRose!

I was intrigued by the description of your poem, which I found in Review Requests. I've always been fascinated by the idea that those who seem so perfect have unseen burdens and scars. What a unique and powerful topic to base a poem on!

Overall, I truly enjoyed reading your poem! The way you described Cinderella was thought provoking, imaginative and unexpected. My favorite line was, "Her hair was red, frizz with frost/
Crisped, solidity, warmth was lost". Within the first seconds of reading I was able to grasp your style and tone, which speaks of your excellent writing skills.

I had one question: why did you choose to not capitalize the first letter of the second through fifth stanzas? Whatever the reason, it was not very distracting because your poem was so entertaining.

After reading your poem, it really stuck with me- this feeling of sweet, dark mournfulness. You have a powerful voice and are very creative!

Keep on writing!

WOW. You made the transformation into a werewolf sound so cool! I love when you said "joyous terror", for that is such a complex emotion. The flow is wonderful, and the poem itself feels like it is bringing you into a completely different world! I also love the lines, "they are not victim-they are prey" which is very powerful.

This was really cool. My favorite part was when you said, "a fork in the path of desire". I'm not sure if this is the way you meant it, but the way I interpreted this was that they both had something tempting them that pulled them apart. I also liked, "Time sweeps the shards into the forge of understanding" because I feel like that represents how time heals the broken pieces of a relationship. Definitely a good read!

I really enjoyed reading this. Even as I read it I felt more relaxed. The words you chose to describe how you feel when you are between the garden and the ocean made me feel like I was really there! This was really great!

I really enjoyed reading this! I liked how you talked about the differences between now and back then through her eyes, how much has changed, and yet she still smiles. Things have been destroyed, and utterly altered, but she catches a glimpse of happiness and hope and smiles. Powerful, detailed. Loved it!

Review of A Mother's Love  Open in new Window.

This was truthful and heartfelt. I am one of those people who say "I love you" a lot. You have taught me that, love isn't always shown through words and doesn't have to be, that it can be through actions, that you don't have to say I love you to mean it. This was so cool and I think you make a very good point! Well done!
