So I'm getting that the sun is actually The Son and that the shepherd is actually The Son manifest and that the underlying message is one of rebirth through Him and of His always being present.
In any case though, great poem. Though I disagree with the field suddenly being described as "ashes" and you as a phoenix, I still hold that it's an accurate description of one who is reborn regardless of being overused. That and it redeems itself by implicating fires from the storm which not only references Sodom and Gomorrah, but everything that comes along with such an allusion.
