I have had similar things happen to me. I used to work as a Computer Field Service Technician. My territory was DC, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. There were many times when I would get lost in my thoughts and memories, only to get lost along the way. I always ended up snapping out of it, but sometimes it took me further out of the way than necessary.
