First, I must say that your prose is gorgeous. I don't know if any of your work has been published, but it definitely could be. The story is engaging, but right when I feel like it's really going somewhere, it abruptly ends with many unanswered questions. What is the significance of the apples? What are the consequences of her taking them? Of giving them to her husband? I am most interested in finding out.
I found this story to be highly original and entertaining. Not the typical "new take on an old fairytale" format. Your storytelling is creative and your images are vivid. My only criticism is that at times the story is thick with adjectives and adverbs, which distract from the action, and in some cases your description is a bit redundant. It's hard to forget what the princess looks like. I hope you find this helpful. Other than that, your storytelling is strong and consistent to the very end. I think you may even have enough material here for a novel, if you choose to go that route. Good work, and most definitely, keep writing!
