Hello, Calia Lovett! I read "The Cage"  and wanted to offer you this review:



Emotional Impact: Often poems are a sudden jolt of realization for me - this one was different, in that the message came softly.
"For a wild creature's place
Is not in a cage
But on its own".



Effectiveness of Form: Your poem is free verse, and I think that helped with the whole concept that love is something that needs to be free. But I think the way that your poem was also organized into couplets shows us that even though love needs freedom, it also needs a structure to build on - namely, someone's returned love.



Punctuation and Grammar: I found no grammatical errors in your poem.



*Star*Closing comments: An excellent poem, and a fresh look at a topic that tends to be well-picked over when it comes to poetry. Write on!

Emotional Impact: This poem was startling, disturbing, and thought-provoking; even in it’s shortness. It makes you wonder, almost, if there's more to this color red than meets the eye...



Effectiveness of Form: The length of the poem itself speaks volumes (even if you didn't) - it's simplicity and vivid adjectives give us an image of which we are not sure, but somehow feel that we know.



Punctuation and Grammar: I found no errors in your punctuation or grammar.
